OT: "Top Break" Family Pix

Post by Old No7 »

Cheers to all.

I thought some of you guys & gals might like to see my growing Top Break revolver family............

Recently, I had posted about the old l'il H&R .32 Auto-Ejecting top break that I got...
see: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=15270

And two years ago, I posted about the H&R #999 Sportsman top break. The one in the family pix below replaced the older one I wrote about earlier, as it's newer and in much better shape and has the frame-mounted firing pin, but otherwise she's the same classic design.
viewtopic.php?f=1&t=1536

Well then, time moves on and my top break family has grown -- maybe because I've watched "3:10 to Yuma" a few too many times... (Remember those unique fast-loading revolvers mentioned by name towards the end?)

Yup, being a fan of the top break design, I just had to get myself another top break... This time, I thought BIGGER and went to the TOP of the pile and got the KING of all top break's -- the SCHOFIELD. This was no "government stimulus deal" either -- although I sure would welcome a big 'ol fat bailout check of my own -- nope, I earned each and every penny (those that I got to keep, after the guv'mint and house manager took their shares...) of the bonus check from work that was awarded last month. I figured something had to make up for the weekly grind of 60+ hours workin' and 15+ hours commutin' and make it all worthwhile. This is it... (I hope!)

More pix of the new Schofield will be posted later some time, but for now, here's the Top Break family...

Top: 7" Uberti S&W No. 3, 2nd Model, Schofield - .38 Spcl
Middle: 6" H&R #999 Sportsman - .22LR
Bottom: 4" H&R Auto-Ejecting - .32 S&W Long
Top-Break Family 03-09 (1) (Small).jpg
H&R A-E -- Schofield -- H&R #999
Top-Break Family 03-09 (2) (Small).jpg
Hmmm... Might have to start looking for a nice old nickel-finished S&W top break just for a change... (Uh oh! The top break bug really has bitten!!!)

Enjoy the pix. And tight groups!

Interesting - first gun I shot was a top break 32 of some manufacture.

Excellent group of firearms. I just picked up a Smith Schofield and I am pleased with it.

I never owned one, but always liked the top-breaks. A friend had the H&R .22 when I was a kid, but by the time I had enough money of my own to buy a gun, they were getting scarce.

Nice acquisition. I'm interested in the range report on Schofield.

A Webley or two would go quite well with that group.
