It SHOULD work. You'll have to do the first one manually and after that it SHOULD work. Just make sure you're accepting the site's cookie. Since this ends in .org the browser doesn't recognize the original cookie as being from the site so you have to log in the first time manually. After that it should be automatic. Once the DNS changes we'll be able to go back to using the .com URL as well.

I'm having the same thing happen. I have to log in each time I leave and come back. I figured I'd wait it out till we switch back to .com then make sure everything is set right.

Paul, pardon what may be a simple question - how do you confirm that you are accepting a cookie for this. It appears in my list of cookies.

OK. We'll see what turns up. Yes sir, if you see levergunscommunity.ORG in the list then your cookies are enabled. We'll look into why this feature isn't functioning here. Thanks for your patience as we work it out.

Well the automatic login might be a configuration issues since the site really believes it in com when generating the auto login cookie but your not. I just left it alone I would really just prefer to and just see if I'm full of it when the name actually gets moved.

As for the avatars, hum let me go get them.... But this might have to wait until I get home, I'm supposed to be working.

Most but not all, even my own. I have to go read the code to figure this out.
I think this version is actually putting the images into the database but it's keyed based on something, maybe the name w/ com/org screwing it up in which case when the name changes poof they rest (most recent people) will reappear.

this now has to wait till later, it's not quick.

I'm not getting the automatic log in either but it's no big deal. I'll wait until we go back to .com to fiddle with it. My avatar showed up as the infamous "red x" this AM and I simply went into my profile and uploaded it from my computer again. Again, no biggie.

Get off the web/internet, empty your Cache, bring the web/internet back up, type www.levergunscommunity.org in the address line. When the site comes up, log in, click the remember me box, and when the site index comes up, click on Favorites and then Save. Use this new saved address to access the forum until the new server is back on line and then revert to the previous .com address/site.

You may want to try this. When you get to the index page after you login, right click, choose create shortcut, and place a shortcut on your desktop. Clicking on the desktop shortcut brings me back to the index page everytime using internet explorer.
Good luck,

No sir. It's a server issue. Once we get the server switched over so that the .com domain is parked on top of the .org domain then this issue should go away - as long as you enter via the .com domain. :) :D The software is setup for the .com which is why now that it's running on .org it's giving us this glitch. We'll see if we can get it going by the weekend. Thanks for your patience guys...

OK guys,

Sorry about the burp there. But in a few hours (max 24-48 hopefully) we should have the DNS resolved all over the internet so that http://www.levergunscommunity.com will be pointing here. Once it does, the whole issue of automatic logins should be fine once more. Thanks for your patience as we work this out.

So the login works fine on the .com domain? It does for me, but just want to make sure that it does for the rest of y'all too. Check the URL in your browser and make sure you're logged in at the .com domain and it should work fine.

It's both.

:D

Really.

We used the .org domain to set the new server up with. Then we parked the .com on top of it. Either will get you to it, but the .com will work better if you use the auto login feature. They are the SAME forum, just different domain names to refer to the same space and content.

Ed, check the URL you receive this one from. It SHOULD come from the .com . Also, just try logging in at http://www.levergunscommunity.com - that is, if it comes up for you. Anyway, what I'm most interested in hearing is if this comes from .com or .org. Just check the URL in the message you'll receive about the topic reply...

OK. THANKS! I was pretty sure that was the way it worked, but wanted to double check. If the person who answers a topic logsin on the .ORG address, the reply goes out as from .ORG - and the autologin will not work. If the person logs in and posts from the .COM address then the answer goes out as from the .COM and everything works fine. So, hopefully, folks will change all their favorites, bookmarks, etc. to http://www.levergunscommunity.com and we can just ignore the .ORG version except for maintenance and such - things most of us don't need to worry about.

Now I'm curious as to how many are still not getting the .COM address to come up in their area. It works fine here, just north of the Equator and just south of the Panama Canal...
