Howdy from Central Texas

Post by saddleringcarbiner »

Howdy, gentlemen! My dad and I were going through the gun collection today, and I picked up a Winchester 1894. After working the action a few times, I remembered why I like lever action rifles so much! I took the weapon right to the computer and started soaking up everything I could learn about it. This one is from 1909, and despite the dirt, oil and grime built up over time, I believe it to be in pretty great functional shape. Next is a good, thorough cleaning and stock oiling, and then it's off to the range to learn how she shoots.

Sent an email out to Winchester Bob about some replacement screws and more info...his reply was quick and gave me some more info. I hope to learn even more here, and it looks like I'll have plenty of reading to do before I start posting a bunch.

Happy New Year, everybody!

Welcome to the fire, Glad to have you here. You didn't mention what cal your rifle is, but I suppose that it is a 30WCF. You will find that there are a lot of fans of the old 30-30 here. Once you start shooting that fine old rifle you are going to be bitten by the bug. Lever guns are like Lays Potato chips, one is never enough.
You have been warned.
