I got my SubNote (my main PC) back from warrantee repair and spent a day loading up my software suite(s)...
UNFORTUNATELY, I did all of this at the Office... so I neglected to check a couple of "Coffeeshop" hardware fiddlybits.
Danged if the touch screen wasn't working.
Come to find out, Depot loaded WinXP and not WinXP-Tablet. (Way to look at the EULA sticker guys...)
So now I've got to reformat and reload EVERYTHING again.
Meh. 3 days wasted.

Reformating always ends up being a time when I stream-line my programs by cutting alot of fat. Then, like in real life, the "weight" comes back on gradually.

Actually, I usually do a hard reformat and reinstall about once a year just to optimize... but I usually do it from a clean-install Ghost.
Couldn't do that this time.

Blaine, in ordinary internet use a lot of stupid small programs are added to your PC. Java, anti-virus the list is endless. Sometimes so much stuff is added it hurts the performance of even the fastest system. A way to fix that is to save off your documents (Word, Excel, e-mail) and then do a clean install of the operating system. Windows XP, Vista, whatever. Then load back in your e-mail application, Outlook(?) or whatever. Word, Excel and other applications.
A ghost install would be when you have done the above and then saved off a copy to a separate drive. When it is time to redo your system you reinstall from the "ghost"
Comprende?
