good for you. When I lost my last Dobe it bothered me so much I swore I'd never get another dog.
Then four years ago I ran across a German short hair that had been abandoned in a rural area and was scheduled to be euthanized at the county pound. I adopted her and as they say "life hasn't been the same since."
She's gun shy and spoiled but we get out for some long walks the we both need.
I've always thought bloodhounds were neat pooches.
good luck
Congratulations on your new family member. Adoption is the way to go. I have never paid for a pet of any kind. Be they feline or canine, there are plenty out there in need of a good home. Besides, pound dogs and cats seem to be alot more appreciative.

Good looking pup, hope you and he can have a bunch of adventures worth sharing here.

I've loved Bloodhounds ever since watching those B&W episodes of "Beverly Hillbillies" back in the early 60s. Copper is a handsome devil and he has found a good home thanks to you. Congratulations to the new addition to your family.
Good move!! Hope you both enjoy each other's company. I bet he will make a great alarm system. My husky is a watch dog (watch you come in and watch you go out) She only barks when food is late or if there is a critter in the back yard that she can't get at. 13 years old might have something to do with that.

Copper unfortunately did not work out i had to bring him back to the ones i adopted him from he was not doing good here and was using my home as his personal yard [if you get my meaning] he seem to be doing much better with them but there land lord won't let them have a big dog so they will have to adopt him out to some else that can spend more time with him we do miss him and we are keeping in touch with copper to make shoure he gos to some one willing to spend the time with him

I am sorry it didn't work for y'all. Wish I was closer; he could complete a Bloodhound trio for us. We have had good success housetraining some older dogs, though males are more difficult in that regard.

We think those little guys are great - not everyone has the room in their house, yard, or auto for Mastiffs our size but Bullmastiffs are really good dogs - choice of color is good also - either brindle or fawn.

Wonderful dog! He's one lucky pup to have found a home with you, and I'm sure he pay you back tenfold - at least!
Open mouth, insert foot, etc. I aplogize for diving in without catching up. Trust another adoptive friend will work out
for you. My first Airedale was a rescued dog (four years old), and he was an absolute delight.

It is sad that Copper didn't quite work out . . . and I agree with the member that said that adopted dogs and cats seem to be more appreciative. My wife and I adopted a nine-month-old kitten that was in a neglect situation. It took Oreo about ten minutes to take over. She's a sweet, loving cat, with a playful streak a mile wide. I'm going to test her on venison (if she likes it) sometime soon. And, she gets along great with our almost-14-month-old daughter.
