The Story behind the Hunt...If you can call it hunting. I own 30 acres adjacent to a Wilderness Area in Eastern Oregon...Same farm I joined the Marines from many, many years ago. Anyway, I've been watching this big buck for about three years now. Heck, this big fella had been walking through my camp without any fear for quite sometime. My Neighbor and I were cooking steaks on the Grille when we spotted him again. He was munching on some apples and my neighbor shot him from about 200 yards with a .270...We both have some big Mule Deer on our farms. We were getting ready to have Dinner...
We loaded the Buck in my PU and took him to the Barn my Dad and I built 40 years ago...Good times and good memories.
I've been spoiled when it comes to hunting Mule Deer...don't have to work very hard to take deer. Funny, I had been shooting all day from my Camp and this fella showed up anyway. My neigbor ask me if I wanted to shoot him when we saw him the previous night, but I just didn't feel like gutting out a deer that late in the day....He shot from camp while I was cooking our steaks
We split the meat...as always and toasted another difficult hunt with a cold beer.
I lost count a long time ago, but a lot of Mule Deer have been taken on my place. The one I have on my wall in my Trophy room was shot out the Bath Room window under an apple tree...

Was sippin' on some whiskey with my Dad(home on leave) and playing cards and made a trip to the bathroom. My Dad passed away in 1998, but we still hang deer in his barn.
Thanks Dad...
