ScottT what's your loading equipmt and technique for Kate.

Post by kimwcook »

Not wanting to hijack anyone's thread I'll start a new topic.

Scott, I've got a Shiloh Sharps in 45-70 and would like to eventually start shooting black out of her. I've seen what you've been able to do with Kate and would like to start someplace and what your doing is definitely working.

Reading your reply to my question about what dies you used I read you use a Lyman taper crimp die. I thought from a previous post that you used thumb pressure to seat your bullets. I'm confused, yeah I know, pretty easy at times. But you seating your bullets by thumb are you just taking place of the seating die, or, are you seating them with a small interference fit?

Thanks

If he doesn't answer, I'm sure these people here will be glad to chime in, they're kinda partial to the Shiloh's.

Look for the forum link, sit back and enjoy the Quigley sound track.

I seat the bullets with only the pressure I exert with my thumb. I then wipe off excess lube and crimp.
