Patriot help needed! USA made flag recommendation
It's Flag Day, and I was horrified to look at my pole and see the condition Old Glory was in. And ashamed, so I replaced it immediately.
I hate buying foreign-made USA flags.
Who has a good experience with an American made version?
I don't mind paying more for good quality that will last longer.
These Asian ones look good for a while, then suddenly all the stitching rots out at once.
All the reviews I find seem to be put out by the companies themselves. I'm eager for suggestions.

To properly dispose of your old flag some Boy Scout troops will take it or check with local VFW posts.
Ya gotta show ALLEGIANCE to the flag, that is who I'll buy from.

Give cotton a try. Our VFW post and auxiliary does flag disposals, and 95 percent are now polyester or some other plastic. Burning them is like burning tires with attendant columns of black petroleum smoke and not honorable at all. We have to find another method, perhaps grinding into reusable pellets or something. Burning a natural-fiber flag is an entirely different and healthier experience.

Good point about disposal Bill.
( but it ain't plastic, it's polymer

Once it's on fire it's plastic! (Moldable)
As far as boy scouts go, I figure I treat my flags with more dignity. My grandsons used to be in Trail Life, so they will be conscripted for the next disposal I have.
I ordered a Rushmore Rose nylon flag to try. Cotton ones are so expensive. The one I ordered had a 1-star review where the guy complained about the flag only lasting 9 months, got a free replacement under warranty, and that one lasted 6 months. Sounds good to me, compared to the 3 months I get out of the cheap ones.
Thanks for the suggestions. I will try some other brands after this one. I need to keep notes so I can figure out which flag stays serviceable the longest.

Harbor Freight's stuff is mostly Chinese junk, and they do sell Chinese-made flags. But they also have American-made US flags with sewn-on stars. About $30, IIRC, and sometimes on sale for $20.
As for disposal, Lowes in my area has a collection barrel and properly retires them properly. Local Boy Scout troops also often retire flags.

This is the best I have found and will last about a year, even here on the Mountain in high winds.

The lifetime of a flag is also heavily dependent on your environment. Down her in the south, with the intense UV from the sun, even the best flags only usually last a year before they are faded and should be retired.
