Re: Where are all the old coots???
I joined in 2007 when I was looking for information on loads for the 40-82. I was ramping up to start reloading for an 1886 Winnie that my dad bought in an auction in about 1929. I got quite an education about lever guns from many of the members here, and over the years have accumulated a nice herd of levers, mostly Winchesters. I don't get out to shoot much anymore, but I have developed loads for my rifles that are good enough that I wouldn't want to be standing in front of my rifle if I was taking a bead on something! I'll be 74 this year and thank goodness for tang sights! They are so quick and accurate when it comes to hunting situations!

Re: Where are all the old coots???
The last time back about 2018 we entered Canada from Glacier Park up through the Peace Bridge to Waterton. Like
peaceful Yanks, we had decided against visiting Canada, but changed our collective minds. The Canadian Immigration Inspector
was really nice, as we had no passports. BUT, I did have a USINS badge and ID as a retired Special Agent.(Now ICE). Also,
I had a card given to me decades earlier by an RCMP Constable. The Inspector found it amusing, let us in, and I did have a 45 Colt 1911,
but it was back in MT. with our travel trailer...having known of Canadian firearms restrictions.
"Badges? We don't always need no stinkin badges". Unless.....but, I am 80 now and only chase bears, shoot guns and ride old BMW motorcycles made in the 50s-60s with kick starters.

I see that a whole bunch of us show joined in 2007, but a lot of us were here quite a while before that. I think the forum got re-bult and we all had to register again if I remember correctly.

It's been awhile but it seems like I was on for just a few months and then there was a big redo of the site or something...???
Maybe that was before 2007.

Checking the community index every day for birthdays I see a lot of names that were once well known that sadly no longer post.

I have no idea when I joined, but I stepped away for some time because social media was causing me some trouble. Not that it was bad, but I was struggling and I thought that stepping away would be a good idea. It was.
I stayed in touch with some fine gentlemen.
Changed to using my real name and I think it’s better.

Re: Where are all the old coots???
I remember the transition. I'm not levering as much as I used to. I had long periods of low gun activity because I had little kids that absorbed a bunch of my time. I'm getting back into reloading now. Going to be too hot to go out and shoot down here soon. Might be a while before I hit the outdoor range.

my remlin 45-70 cowboy took like $300 to get it to even feed and eject right. my JMs function flawlessly.big bear wrote: ↑Sun Jun 29, 2025 8:23 pmHmmm? Must be me. I gave a waffletop 35Rem that I can get 3 shot 1.5" or better groups with the Levergun powder recipe on the container. My 375Win Marlin does under 2" , 4 shots at 100yds and I haven't tried many loads in it. It is also a JM model. the problem children are Remlins, maybe that is the issue.Old Savage wrote: ↑Sun Jun 29, 2025 7:40 pm Still here from 2007. All my Marlin rifle calibers are accurate.

Anyone hear from Joe Miller lately?
