I was just thinking about asking on here, today, about where would be a good place to buy a bunch of cast bullets. I quite handloading much of anything for quite some time now, but recently loaded up a bunch of 45acp to shoot out of my Ruger convertible, and I realized that I was lot lower on my stores of cast bullets than I thought I was. We used to have a couple of local gun shops that stocked cast bullets but no one that I know of has them now. I think mostly because all of the younger guys just shoot 9mm mostly and buy factory. But even that is getting kind of prohibitive anymore. But it's not just the cost, it's getting good loads that shoot good for me.

I will have to check Montana Bullet Works out. I hope shipping doesn't kill me.

Scott, what bullet is that, you have pictured there? Is that a .44 or 45 cal? I need to order some bullets for especially my 45 and trying to decide on weight or even if I need a gas check.

RCBS .45 270 SAA sized to .454.

I don't know but at that money I would buy a mold and cast my own . Which is actually exactly what I do. When I was raising kids and was short on time I did buy boxed bullets for a bit but they were boxes of 400-500 and under $40 per box with some of the smaller ones being just under $30 . Even at my age I shoot too much to afford $48 per hundred for cast bullets when $400 will let me cast unlimited numbers and size and lube them to suit my gun. Anything I save casting just buys more powder and primers. Might ought to start selling a few myself at that kind of money. My dad did that the last 10 years or so before he died. He was a volunteer RSO at the state range in Mount Juliet Tennessee and took orders at the range . They let him salvage the lead from where they scraped and rebuilt the backstops so he only had to buy type metal for the hard cast he did. He wasn't getting $48 per hundred though . When he passed I moved around 50 five gallon buckets of the range dirt he had left un sifted plus everything he had already cleaned and four five gallon buckets of clean jackets.
