An old friend brought in a bag full of pistols to me today to ask me to help him determine what they are, and what they are worth. There are two Luger pistols and one is Mauser from early days of WWII. But the other has me stumped. It's a DWM marked Luger, and serial number is #116. A very nicely blued Luger without the early grip safety, and a polished bare thumb safety with Geishert stamped on the frame that is covered by the safety in one position. Two magazines and one has a wooden plug, and other has aluminum. Neither serial numbered. It has a black shiny holster with the spare mag in it, and the Luger takedown tool. I think it's an early 1906 Commercial model, but not a Luger guy. There's actually two Lugers. The second one is a early WWII Mauser built Luger in 9mm.
He also has an Ithaca 1911A1 US Army and Property of US Government marked, a Japanese Nambu, and a P38 Walther that I'm sure is fairly new reproduction as it has an marking on the front grip strap that reads, "PW Redmond, Va." It looks like new, and likely is fairly new.
Any Luger experts here?

The German word, "gesichert" means secured or "safe".

Re: Any Luger experts here?
I was at my friend's place yesterday who sells at his online auction service and he's amazing at firearms knowledge of these old military firearms. He went over all 5 of my friend's handguns in detail, and without opening a single book until he checked the date code on the Japanese Nambu Type 14! It turned out to be late October of 1942.
The two Lugers were very interesting, and the nicest one I thought was civilian he said wasn't. He said it was post WWI, but not WWII. Somewhere in between, but likely captured from a German soldier or civilian. The brown leather holster that is with it he said was likely made in the field by an American GI so he had a non flap holster for "quick draw". That Luger he said is about $2k value.
The Mauser/Luger was even more interesting to Mark. He said it began life as an early WWII military, but after the war it was issued to German police and had some safety mods done for the police. He also said it was a very rare G code, and had a numbers matching magazine. Holster is WWI military, but has the tool and spare mag marked "2" as police used. He told me that Luger was easily $2.5k and maybe a bit more. Thought the other being so nice would have been the big winner?
The Ithaca 1911A1 was the big winner. He said it's 100% correct and original, and even in about 70% it's a nice handgun, and has a correct SEARS (not Sears-Roebuck!) holster. He tore it all apart to check things and said it's a $2.5-3k gun. Had it been in excellent condition he said the Ithaca would go twice that much!
The brand new Walther P38 looks unfired, and has it's original black police holster. Made by Walther in 1981 for German police use, and he figured about $600 for it.
The poor Nambu Type 14 is missing the ejector, and rear half of the firing pin, but a very nice looking gun. I found both parts at Numrich for under $70, so I'll fix it for him. It's worth about $500-$550 he said if fixed.

Thanks Ray! It appears the marking isn't done well as it sure looks like a V and not a W. I'll change my paperwork I'm giving my friend.

Yes. I think I paid $250 for the first one I bought and it was a mixed bag of parts. Shot great, but well worn finish. Then I sold it when I found a numbers matching Luger for $350, and that one didn't shoot nearly as well! Eventually sold both and never owned another since. Those were both back in the late 70's.
