First a few rounds at the schuetzen club down the road, then a few on the porch followed by great schnitzel up the road. A fine day for a fine achievement. All the best.

Thank you one and all. We had a great afternoon in Luckenbach, then went into Fredericksburg and visited Cimarron Arms. Afterward we ended with a great meal at Martini's Seafood. I recommend it if you are in Fredericksburg.

Sounds like a fine way to spend a birthday, Jim. I always wanted to take a peek at Cimarron when in Fredericksburg, but always seemed to be there when they were closed.
Had a great meal at the Altstadt when there last.

According to my mother-in-law, that means in 10 years you're going to be OLD....

I say that because on her 80th birthday, we asked her how she felt to be old, and she said "I won't be old until I'm 90...!" 8)

According to my dad, "The good thing about turning 50 is you know you won't die young." Having lived longer than him by a decade already, I beg to differ. My great-grandmother on my mom's side made it to 107. She drove until she turned 90 or a bit more so I figure your mother-in-law may have something there.

I once asked God why we die so young.

Post by JimT »

I didn't hear a voice answer but the thought that came suddenly was "Mankind was created for eternity. It would not matter how long we lived if we feel this life is all there is. It would never be long enough."

I remember my dad's last words to me, back in '93. "I won't be around long, I can hear the Lord calling me." He was prompt about heading the call as the next day at 7 when I arrived back at the hospital, he was gone. It's been almost 33 years, which seems like a lifetime. But I look forward to seeing him again. A few days later I shared with friends and family who had gathered the following, plus its context: "We do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, concerning those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve like the rest, who have no hope." Thank God for the hope we have through Jesus Christ, our Lord!
