old winchester i have wondered about
don't remember how or when i got this rifle, a 1914 made model 94 30wcf. its barely a wall hanger its in such bad shape. came from the far west tx area, as did i many years ago. stock is almost white its so dried out and old. what i am really curious about is that it has a rack # on it. my research shows that no 94s were ever issued to the military except home guard etc. pancho villa paid his visit to columbus new mexico in 1916, so maybe it was used by his troops or ??? and wound up in el paso as did he many times. even lived there a spell. anyways.....its a puzzler to me, probably a ho hum to others. my grandmother told me that as a young woman she used to sit on the roof of their house and watch the fighting in J town while eating sandwhiches and making a picnic out of it as did many others. pics will be show up soon thanks AGAIN to bill.

Well, that one certainly has a history. Thanks for sharing. Wonder if the Texas Rangers or Arizona Rangers or similar used it.

If only they could talk! That is a pretty interesting carbine. I hope you find out the story behind the rack number.
I have a 94 SRC from 1917 that lived in West Texas and New Mexico most of it's life. The stock on it is dried out to the point that it has several cracks in it.
I bought it from an old gentleman about 15 years ago that said it was his Dad's and that he carried it on horseback for several years in the late 19-teens and early twenties
working on ranches. It has an old Lyman tang sight. It also has the wrong or reworked forearm that the band is on the wrong spot on the wood, otherwise
it is in fair shape mechanically. I wish it could tell the story of it's life as well.
I am a sucker for old beat-up rifles anyway, as I have a few others in that category.
Thanks for sharing John,

I love old guns! This was definitely not a safe queen!
I'm curious. I see there is a missing screw on the right side of the receiver. Am I to assume that there are missing parts an it doesn't function?
Is the bore a sewer pipe?
The real question to me is what did you do in your first 50 years?
Thanks for posting!!!
