348 Winchester reloaders here?

Post by big bear »

Any 348 Winchester reloaders here?
Do you anneal your brass?
If yes, do you use a store bought annealing system? (I am thinking of buying an AMP annealer for my long range rifle Lapua brass and for my 348Win brass.)

Experience with Starline 348Win brass.

Thanks for any feedback.

I handloaded for my Model 71 years ago. I never annealed the brass and had no issues with them splitting. I loaded the Hornady 200 gr. bullet and the Barnes 250 gr. bullet. This was long before the FTX bullet that Hornady puts out now. I mostly loaded the Hornady bullet in those days.

I anneal but use a propane torch. I do it in low light so I can see the case begin to go orange then drop into a coffee can of water.
I mostly do my 218,25-20,257 AI. Mostly because of poor availability for those.

Thank you gentlemen for your replies. Afraid your votes match my predicament , 1 yes/1 no vote. I am hoping a tie breaker shows up :?

I used to anneal my .30-30's. I did it the same way Gunny does his. Brass is so plentiful and I have so much of it that I just don't worry about it anymore.

Don't have a 348W, but I anneal my 30-30, 270Win, 30-06 brass identically the same as Gunny. I put each case into a small socket on an extension, very slow spin with a drill.
