No Elk...Yet
Did a little bowhunting last week and rifle just opened. Seen a few elk too far for a bow. We did run into a cinnamon black bear with two cubs. We've seen more bear and moose than elk. The scenery is amazing though.

That really is gorgeous country. Youngest brother on the Cache la Poudre up near Fort Collins keeps torturing me with photos of the aspens -- and his Brittany pup.

Great photo of a Great country. Good luck when you get one. I hope he doesn't find a steep draw to get into.

I've been running into bears everything time I go out. I guess I'll try a different area. Here are pics from tonight....but I did almost hit a small herd of elk driving home...but they were on private property...

I don't know your location but I see the Bighorns picked up some snow over the week-end.

Between Alpine and Jackson. Temps down to mid-high 20's at night. That should get them moving!

What a beautiful place to hunt! Harvest Moon, hopefully Elk Harvest!

Our son and his hunting partner are headed to their elk camp in eastern Idaho after spending a couple of days fishing near Alpine and La Barge, They caught some beautiful brook trout and cutthroats.

L. A. Barge, I grew up near there. Don't hear it mentioned very often. I hear about Aline all the time now. I drank a few beers at Jeep's Bar in Alpine back in the day, I really liked Alpine then, I hardly recognize it now. I worked that area of Wyoming (Alpine, Afton, Cokeville, LaBarge, Big Piney, Daniel, Pinedale) cowboying, sheepherding and later as a businessman for many years, I miss it. I was headed that way to hunt elk this week, but ended up being called out on a job, so now elk hunting will have to wait or not happen at all.
