Sp101 takedown problem

I have a sp in 327 fed I’m having trouble with.
I’ve taken it apart before , no problemo.
This time , trying to remove the trigger assembly , push the plunger in and no luck , assembly will not budge.
I appreciate any help , thanks.

Sorry I can't help, I've never had an SP on my bench.
I'm wondering if it's extremely dirty/seized up with gunk? Try to get some solvent in and let it soak over night.

Pretty darn clean actually , plunger goes in , but for the life of me , trigger assembly won’t budge.

Got it apart with a little tapping with a hammer
Also took a small file ( both round and flat ) to deburr the casting around the plunger opening .
Hope next time is easier..

Think I’m done with lead bullets with this revolver , the fouling on the crane inside the cylinder is excessive , and needs cleaning every outing.

Glad you got it. They can be pretty tight. I do some deburring to the inside of the trigger guard and polish the plunger and hole. Helps a bunch.

I made a disassembly tool from an old cleaning rod. I just bent the end so that it would push in the plunger.

That reminds me, Brownells used to sell a tool to do that. As many Ruger DA revolvers as I have I should have bought one

You're not the first one who has had issues with the SP101 in .327. It's a shame. I love the platform and the cartridge but can't afford the price of a sketchy 101.

Maybe try coated cast if you're trying to keep costs down?

I use coated hard casts from Missouri Bullet in all of my 357s including my SP101 and notice no more deposition than jacketed bullets.
