"Dissolving the myth" posted to Sixgunner.com

Post by CraigC »

Since the Linebaugh site went down, I thought this would be a fitting first article to put up from the old Sixgunner site. Many thanks to Jim Taylor for providing them. I found it easier to do a screenshot pic for the loading data tables. Met me know if I missed anything. More to come.....

I've read this wonderful article a dozen times over the years and the truth is as shiny as ever. 8)

Very cool article.

I don't yet own a big Ruger in 45 Colt, but maybe in my dotage I should acquire one, eh?

Thanks!

Thank you Craig. This information has been so valuable to me over the years when loading for my 45 Colt Blackhawks. I am glad to see it again.

I've referred to that same passage over the years. I'd copied it into my notes. I'm looking for a 45 Colt levergun and plan to load it subsonic, with Linebaugh's recommendation in mind. It should be a pleasant little shooter.

Yep

That is some GREAT stuff.

Hey Jim, do you have any pics of the "Working gun"? I'm working on that one and a few others.

I've got some old pics with your name in the file name. I just don't remember what article they're from. I have some marked "before" and "after". Is this it?

Yessir. That is the gun. I shot that gun for years til it was worn loose and then had Hamilton Bowen rebuild it.

I have this as "after". I couldn't find a version on the wayback machine with pics but I'd like to add them to the article if it's appropriate. I remember it being one of my favorite articles. Hope I'm not being too much trouble.

That is after Bowen rebuilt it. I will send another photo plus the article about the rebuild.

That is the .357 Blackhawk I had rebuilt into a .45 ACP. Do you need the article?

Okay, I'll leave the "afters" out of that one.

If you have it, I'll put it up. Maybe I'm stuck in the past but I love the stuff from the old site. :)

Got it and put it up, thanks! I think I had saved most the pics. I saved everything back then. I found a lot of articles I had saved too but I need to go through them.

I should have ... but some friends salvaged a bunch of it for me ... so I have most of the old site yet.
