Ohio poacher pleads guilty

For the TL:DR crowd... Massive buck on private land, kid poached, then lied about location.

Ohio Department of Natural Resources and other investigators made a solid case, aided by the kids cell phone records, location data, text messages, etc. And more etc. Seriously, not too bright.

Make a check mark on this one for the good guys winning.

As a Gamekeeper all poachers were my sworn enemy, glad this one got caught.

We're lucky that most criminals aren't too bright, and often incriminate themselves. Especially in this age of social media when they just can't stop themselves from bragging about what they did.

If you look at all these guys they always make the mistake of publicizing it. This day and age of all this tech I'm happy to see them get nabbed! Hope they make an example of this person and throw the book at him!

Battling poachers on my farm currently. Both my target bucks were poached the week before season started

It would be different if they were shooting deer/elk- whatever for food. They are shooting for antlers. I don't think anybody has ever come up with a recipe to make antlers good table fare...

Where I live people hunting has dropped so much hunting season for deer lasts from September through March and they still can't control populations. I have five acres and I can get as many free deer tags probably as I want because wasting disease control . I wouldn't eat a whitetail deer anymore because of it. If I use the tags state sends me I have to take head for testing .

I quit hunting years ago myself and now I can go out in back field and see huge bucks about anytime I want. Back in 70's and 80's if you saw a deer hunting it was something to talk about.

Don't care for people poaching or hunting illegally but there is no reason for people too . Seasons and game limits are more than most could ever use.

As a State Police Trooper same here. Not all hit their intended target people and livestock were common.
