Ruger Wrangler vs Single Six
Anyone have a suggestion on a Ruger Wrangler vs a Single Six? Obviously there's a big price difference but how about quality? and accuracy? which trumps all, thanks

With the single six you get the added bonus of a second cylinder for 22mag, not sure if the Wrangler has that ability...?

I believe the Wrangler PLus, or whatever it's called, does.

Personally I prefer the SS, I'm not fond of the two tone colors of the Wrangler. Yes the black version is ok but just not my cup of tea.
Just saw someone is doing a custom run of Wranglers, one of which is hot pink!

Re: Ruger Wrangler vs Single Six
My buddy has had a couple wranglers. He dabbles in trading cheap guns. He's only had 1 single six that I remember, which of course got traded. My experience in shooting his guns, is that the wranglers were not nearly as accurate as a single six.
I can hit an empty coke can at 25 yards with my single six... with a rangler, the groups open up and it's more like 15 yards. Now... you have to consider, my buddy doesn't test anything for accuracy. And when I shoot with him, I grab whatever ammo we've got to stuff into our 22's. So it's possible my experiences with his several wranglers is not indicative, and they'd do well if they got the ammo they liked.
My single six is pretty ammo sensitive, in other words, it won't shoot cheap ammo worth a dagnabit. It does well with aguila, and okay with cci.

I know some people love their Wranglers, but to me the Single Six is much higher quality.

Apples and oranges.
Or rather, steak and hamburger.
I have both.
The Single-Six is a fine, well regulated piece of machinery.
The Wrangler is an excellent value for a shooter.
In hard use, the SS will last much longer
Or...you can buy 3 or 4 Wranglers in different colors and abuse or use the hell out of them.
You get what you pay for, but that doesn't make the Wranglers a bad deal.

We have both.
They seem to shoot differently with a different nut on the stocks.

Re: Ruger Wrangler vs Single Six
The Single Six is the much better revolver. Better made and I find it to be more accurate. The Wrangler is a cheap gun made to compete with the Heritage Rough Rider. I like the Heritage better than the Wrangler if I am being honest.

I can't compare, for I've only ever owned the Single Six, a convertible model, that sad to say, got traded off for a 3-screw .357. Would that I still had both!

Re: Ruger Wrangler vs Single Six
I was looking at .22 SAA revolvers and ended up with the Taylor/Uberti Cattleman 12 shot . I really like it. It's the same size as a regular colt so if you have larger hands you'll love it. Color case hardened and blued. It shoots well and has taken a few chislers. 12 shots is a plus.
I know you asked about the Wrangler and Ruger but threw this in for your consideration. I shot the Wrangler. I liked it but felt a little small for me.

Re: Ruger Wrangler vs Single Six
Funny, after years of patiently waiting, I just bought a used Uberti/Taylor Cattleman 12-shot last week from a store going out of business. Great condition and great price. It fits my hands really well, and seems accurate (from what I can tell from my little basement range; been a spot of bad weather for me to take it outside). I do own a Ruger Single Six and as others mentioned, it is a fine handgun. I have never shot a Wrangler, so can't comment on that. Really just depends on your budget and likes.jkbrea wrote: ↑Tue Oct 01, 2024 9:48 am I was looking at .22 SAA revolvers and ended up with the Taylor/Uberti Cattleman 12 shot . I really like it. Re: Ruger Wrangler vs Single Six
Another "got both" here. The Wrangler was on sale at a price too cheap to pass up but it's kind of become the dedicated rough conditions beater .22. Mine shoots well enough given the right ammo.
Re: Ruger Wrangler vs Single Six
Is a $600 revolver of better quality than a $200 revolver? How is that even a question?
The Wrangler is an excellent $200 revolver; the Single Six is an excellent $600 revolver. They are not the same thing. Take your pick.

Re: Ruger Wrangler vs Single Six
They both are aimed at different markets……..the guy who just wants to shoot once in a while and the guy who wants a long term hi volume dependable gun…….kind of like a Bushnell for the once a year deer hunt and the guy who buys a Nightforce for continual shooting……
Apple and oranges…….but they are both fruit.
The Wrangler is still a much better choice than anything made in another country where you’ll get a rotten peach infested with worms. ….if anything, at least you’ll get an answer from Customer service if buying a Ruger.

We have both and they both seem to function just fine.
I have a personal preference for old Single Sixes with the .222 diameter bore.

Re: Ruger Wrangler vs Single Six
I bought an old model Bearcat for Y2K, his first handgun, when he was about 5 years old. Of course I controlled the gun and ammo until he was older. We both love it. Just a fun little shooter, and a good quality gun.
