Sadly, front and rear labrum surgery in 2 weeks gas poo poo'ed my entire season this year. But, I had planned to use my S&W 610 this year

This honor goes to my BB 94 .375 Winchester this year. Here it is a few days ago at the range. This one is top eject and I put a Williams FP receiver sight on because I can’t see irons very good anymore.
It will also get to hunt in the new Alternative Firearms season that is replacing our Muzzleloader Season.

These 3 will see woods time! I'm loving the 270Win, but hard to best my Mod 64 for hunting!

Re: Hunting guns.
Some very nice firearms being shown here.
I reckon I'll primarily use my Winchester 92 44 Magnum for deer this year. I got it last year, but it went back for a couple issues and was gone during season.
I've not taken a deer with a handgun yet, though I've hunted some with my 44 Special Blackhawk. Last year I passed on a nice spike, and didn't have a chance the rest of the season.
I got this Marlin 1894 357 Magnum a little while back and might just use it a few days too. I'm going to change sights I think, so there is that, but just an evening of shooting. We'll see.

Probably these will make an appearance. I haven't been using my old original Winchesters as much for hunting the last few years, but anything is possible.

Nice. The bolt gun on case is mighty classy.
Is that bottom gun on the rack the 64 of which you speak? I thought that 64s all had pistol grips.

The bottom one. It's a 1971 NRA Centennial Model, which also in 72 & 73 were Mod 64a. It's for sure became my favorite rifle!LeverGunner wrote: ↑Sat Sep 07, 2024 10:01 pmNice. The bolt gun on case is mighty classy.

I had wanted an original pre64 Mod 64 most my life. When this came about I jumped on it, sure glad I did. It's just an outstanding rifle in every way for me hunting only in these mountains, and was already a 30wcf devout! Here it is with my deer Nov 2023.

Re: Hunting guns.
Let’s see the Mannlicher Schoenauer MC 6.5x54 MS with an older Leupold Vari XII 4-12 on top
. Think I have nine different bullets I wanna try this season . My Mannlicher Schoenauer MC 7x57 with handloaded Nosler 140 BT or Hornady 139 SST’s . . My Parker DH 8 gauge with vintage factory load of 0 buck was loaded in the 30’s supposedly with a backup handload of buck in the left barrel in case the factory fails to ignite . . The second of a pair of Parker EH 10 gauge 28” guns choked cylinder and lite full . It’ll have a home cast slug or punkin ball in the right barrel and vintage 0 buck in the left barrel . . And finally a Remington 700 BDL stainless synthetic that was 300 WSM and I rebarreled to 6.5 Sherman Short Magnum . The case was based on the Remington SAUM case sides straightened a bit , given an Ackley shoulder and necked down . Velocity achieved with this thing was almost 200 FPS faster than the 6.5 PRC I had shooting over my Chrony with same weight projectiles . I’ve already killed a deer using it with a Hornady 143 E-LDX and have three other bullets I wanna give a try in the rifle . Sorry to say no pics on my phone of that one . Of course during ML I’ll be using the Remington 700 Ultimate ML 50 cal with Hornady 250 rubber tipped .450” pushed with 64.5 grains of H4198 .You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

If, and it's a big IF I go, there'll be room for:
which still needs to be tuned for 200 yards and 1st taste, plus I can hardly leave behind my favorite
and probably this one... although it has already taken a coyote this year
But... it's still a huge "if" I can catch up on truck repairs to go. Nothing major... just seems like a grand here, 2K for that or 4K for these other things... none of which seem to crop up when I'm home and can do the repairs myself...You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

I sure envy you guys, and wish you productive seasons. Haven't hunted in several years now. Very strange, as I started hunting as a kid. Plan to resume it when I move back to New Mexico: quail and elk.

Re: Hunting guns.
.
The 35 Remington (Marlin 336) is needing a turn, but I always default to a 44 Mag (Marlin 1894, scoped Ruger 96/44 dawn/dusk, or Ruger 77/44 rain/snow) at some point too.
We have an extended crop-damage permit thing this year so can start hunting Sept 14 through January, and that will be odd.
I might even use something 'different' like an AR in 300 Blackout or 50 Beowulf, just cuz I can...

Still illegal here to use a 444 Marlin which seems so silly...

Now that I'm back out and surround by farmland, if I get the chance I'll try and connect with a white tail and my .38-55. The Bowen .44 always goes along, though not entirely legal in OH to carry two firearms during deer season.

An AR-10 for larger longer distance targets. A Styer Model 69 (without the 6-power Kahe scope mounted). I have never had to fire more than one round on a live target with this. My Older ported 45-70 Gude Gun my nephew pick out before he was KIA. My LARGE or Dangerous game Co-Pilot WW.457.

The 95 is 405 and the other is a international stocked Winchester 54 in 30-06. Sorry for the late reply. Been away a couple days.
Re: Hunting guns.
Rem 03A3, Sig Cross in 6.5 Creedmoor, Tikka 30-06, and Marlin 45-70.
I got them all sighted in last week. The 03A3 was hitting steel out to 500 yards. The rest are all sub moa with the Sig punching three 3 shot groups too tight to measure! One hole! I got it for antelope but didn't draw.....but I have three elk tags

My first centerfire rifle was/ is a Remington 03A3. Five hundred yard targets weren't hard to do with that rifle. Can't see as well I used to, but if I concentrate on what I'm doing, I can still pull it off.
One of my favorite hunting rifles is my grandfather's custom 03 and I have two others that were also turned into sporters.
Good stuff!
