Winchester 94 AE with question

Post by 94AE3855 »

I recently purchased a Winchester 94 AE in .38-55. The serial No. makes it a 1990 year of manufacture. There is an engraving on the barrel which is "One of One Thousand". Would this have been engraved at the factory in 1990 ? I cannot find any reference to this marking anywhere.

Howdy and welcome. That's interesting, I've never seen one before. I too would like more pictures.

Possibly someone took a 1 of 1000 barrel off and installed it on a different frame.

A buddy of mine has a Beretta 20ga 1 of 100, they didn't number that 100 guns as 001- 100 , the serial numbers stayed in the production run. It's possible this gun of yours is numbered the same way.

I suspect this is the case. I have a Canadian Centennial with a Trapper barrel on it... a configuration the Canadian wasn't produced in. I also have a new 1894-1994 barrel that I'm put on a post '64 frame. After the Winchester New Haven plant closed a lot of previously unused parts showed up a Numrich Gun Parts.

I agree, someone probably put that barrel on there. Though, it is possible that Winchester did a special run for someone.

Being a pre safety angle eject, that's a pretty sweet gun.

Reloaded some cartridges with Sierra 200gr JSP's (.375"). I'll see how accurate these are on Wednesday when the range opens up.
