All 1890's even the later ones that are called model 90's were caliber specific....They were either s.l.or l.r.. the vast majority were in 22 short, followed by the long with the late ones being available,in l.r...I've seen two and bought both of them.....sold one to pay for the other.....

Mine, now yours..is an unusual and a special 1890....not only is it chambered in l.r. it will also feed, and fire s. and l just like a 62.

As a keeper, this has a mint bore and is near match accurate.........just let me know where you want it shipped.

My local toy shop has a model 90 made in 1891 solid frame non takedown. Like a mug I told him what it was and he has already turned down £1250.00 for it....
If our gun laws were less cranky I would have bought it there and then real cheap but having to get permission from the police first makes a deal like that tricky and it could take a couple of months.

I've never had an 1890. Or a 1906 for that matter.
I have a 61 and a 62 for the slide actions. I have a 67 "boys rifle" I got for the kiss years ago. That's all for Old Winchester. 22s.

Hey, where's Gunny this morning? Hope he is still feeling ok.

I'm here, doing ok. BUT had a very rough morning, the commode has been a close personal friend! As was a shower!! (I won't elaborate)
Still gravely throat but much less than it was. No fever.

Looks like Sixland might see some snow this evening?!

I said SIXLAND, but I apparently didn't look as closely at the weather map as I should have, the possibility of snow is further south than Sixland. Saying we might get some snow here in the morning.

Well, at least you are feeling better in case you have to plow. Snowing hard here now. Huge PIA cause I'm working tonight so it is going to get driven on several times before I can clean it up.

Plow is on, the system that Polaris uses is great, get the pivot hooks close and grab the latch lever and lock the frame onto the machine, hook the winch up and plug in the power angle.

Snow that's been driven on is really my biggest pet peeve!

Think ill make myself a cup of Earl Grey and add a little brandy creamer, climb into my chair and read (until I fall asleep)

I'm up! Good ole GK sent me the funniest video I believe I've ever seen......me and mom were laughing so hard I'm surprised Gunny didn't hear it.....It was a contest between St. Adolf and one of his subordinates.

Yea...snow baby...snow...up to 6" I hear...all the Yuppies are flying down the road racing to get their gallon of milk and an extra loaf of bread.....that's if they have money left over from their $2500 mortgage payment and their $1500 foreign car payment.....or lease payment......they may have made on the 1st.

Went to bed at 2 and got up at 2.....just like a dog...if there's nothing to do I sleep....takes a loooonmnnngggggg time to develop that attitude......

OK......Jay has been talking to my wife on Facebook about the bald eagle.....one landed here and I raced to get the iPad and the battery was dead so I grabbed mom's phone and by that time he landed on a branch 150 yards away...beautiful bird.

I think Jay is trying to have two wives.....it's safer that way to get my Winchesters and Colts.... :D

Another Yellowstone marathon.....tonight is the final episode of the season.....love that show...liberals sure are not protected like they are here......here and elsewhere in society.....even the lone black guy in the bunkhouse is cool...hard worker and don't complain....none of that ghetto attitude........hey! What name rhymes with "complain"......birds of a feather flock together racing to get the last donut I threw out. :D

Six, the weather is pushing them south..
We have quite a few bald iggles here. Couple years ago I stopped at the fly shop in town and as we were all standing outside shootin to breeze I kept hearing a bird of prey squawking. I followed the sound up into a huge spruce tree where I saw an iggle that was eating a fish. The bird I was hearing was an osprey that was trying to get the fish. Well we stood there watching, next thing traffic is stopping, people trying to figure out what we are watching. Then the cameras started showing up.

No gravel this morning, just sand. Didn't have to run for the border either!
Now no snow today.
Every morning Winnie has to go wandering. This morning she wandered into a big brush pile, she doesn't see so well anymore. So I went in after her, tripping, stumbling and cussing. Get her headed for the house and realize my flashlight fell out of my pocket. Parker come ! Find it! Good girl! Just one more reason I give my puppies oddball stuff to play with.

Neat stuff Harry, I love looking at the old gun/ outdoor mags, catalogs.

Well it's close to a 40 degree difference here from yesterday morning.

You getting snow Six?

Glad to hear you are on the mend Gunny... :)

Harry those old magazines were what I spent my pocket money on as a kid in the late fifties and early sixties. They were usually a couple of years old before I got my grubby hands on them... :D

We had the warmest new year I can ever remember... but wet wet wet... :(

Naaaa Gunny...no snow....i looked outside after getting up ..about 1....and there was a few sprinkles on the trash can lid.....

Colder and windy......got some smoke in the house when I was building a fire.....at least that's what the boss said....I didn't see or smell any......downdraft from the wicked wind.......

Well....got to make a few runs today.....I need some of that gray stuff you put around the inside edges of the wood stove doors....the old stuff has been flaking off and there's none left.....cheap stuff....I only got 40 years out of the original....Brandywine hardware has it...like $25!!!!!!!!!!!

Considering we spent $100 for all kinds of food delivered for the Yellowstone marathon yesterday and today most of it got flushed away into the dark abyss, what's $25?

Yea.....always get some good lines from Yellowstone.......Beth told this low life, "life is not a contest to see who lives the longest but who lives with quality". Couldn't imagine living in a cardboard box with plastic siding eating greasy pizza and hoagies that have a pound of bread and 2 thin slices of cheap fatty ham on it and spending all my time trying to make other people's lives miserable by being a keyboard commando....:D ----well gotta go and have some fun....---00

Well, I worked one night. That was enough.
I put a Wilson Bulletproof extractor in one of my 1911s.
I put one of the Wolff spring kits in my M1 carbine too.
I have to get a bead seated on my kids snowblower tire next.
Just a day.......

This is a Honda. From about the late 80s.
Wouldn't be an issue but it sat that way a good long while (don't get me started!) I brought it in to warm up, then I will clean the bead and rim as best I can and give it a try.
If it don't go, she'll get a tube.

Thak GK is clever, see his 2022 post?

Finally got to see the sunset, the past 4 days we've been fogged in. That kinda explains why some folks are nasty, not to mention eating disorders. Don't think I could live in London fog !

I've done that too!
I was hunting up to camp one time. I was alone about 5 miles from camp. I was running my wheeler up an old twitch trail and wedged it between two rocks rolling one of the front tires off the bead.
I had rope and a portable compressor in my box. I ran the rope around the tire after cleaning the bead. Twisted the rope tight with an 8" adjustable, and got it to seat with the compressor.
Made it back to camp for supper and a drink!

Well...you guys are so smart you should rocket scientists.....having multiple machinery with wheelbarrow sized tires ive replaced my share of tires......yep...I used a cable then twisted it with a crow bar......I've used the lighter fluid trick but substituted ether.....you get an instant bead withnthat but wear heavy gloves....

The easiest way is to do what Jay says with a rope or cable, then twisting it then when the rope is taunt, unscrew the valve and set your air compressor as high as it will go and use a "blower" on your air line but make a cap so the air is centralized towards the valve.....the object here is to overwhelm the tire air loss with incoming air. Make sure the tire is warm somehow as you want the sidewall to be as flexible as possible.

Yea, sometimes you just have to tube them. I keep a few extra laying around........

Last year I changed a tire on my little yard trailer......cut the bead on the old tire and it was a battle of wits, crowbars, a series of bench vises, large screwdrivers, etc to get the new one on....I just could not get it to bead so I tuned it.

Yup.
Stuff is always better when you can fix it yourself.
Gettin' by......it used to a skill everyone had. With some, an art form.
I predict it's going to make a comeback in these coming times. The ones who can't, are gonna suffer. The more tools and junk a feller has hoarded, the better off he will be.

Now, I'm going to bed.
Got more junk to fix tomorrow. :D

Fixing stuff is good for the soul and the wallet..... probably the only reason females keep us around too..... :? I used to think it was because of my charm and good looks but as I have neither I have come to realise screwdrivers, hammers and saws are the real ways to a woman's heart.

Glad you guys ( and even buttercup ) liked the 20 gauge shell and .22 LR..........my son sent it to me and I know he ain't got a twenty gauge so I guess he stole it from somewhere else....

I bought a small tire changer from northern tool , bolt it to a chunk of plate steel. I was able to change the tires on my wheeler , with some difficulty but I was not able to get the tires off the ranger wheels. Lucked out that a buddy's tire machine would hold and dismount/mount them.

One lousy little snow storm and these people are stranded on I95? The human species is doomed.

Huh,3-5 or5-8 of snow this Friday. Good thing I'm feeling better ! No gravel this morning, hardly coughing.

Yes quite brisk here this morning, 13.3 here, it's dropped a degree since I got up.

Yeah, we are supposed to have some coming Friday. Figures. It's always when I'm working. Sucks, cause I know my dad will run over and do it if I'm not here. There's just no stopping the old coot. Hope I'm half that tough.
I have an old homemade tire bar that my grandfather had.
I ain't usin it! :D
Watching some videos this morning of a guy and his wife ice fishing up to Greenville. An otter ran out of the woods and came right up to them. They fed him shiners right out of their hand. It wasn't that otter's first county fair. I've never seen anything like that. He went and checked all their traps to see if any fish were laying around.
You can't not chuckle watching an otter.

Otters are cool! Very intelligent too. Ive only seen them once in the wild, up in Quebec. They hung around camp for a few days. Was neat to watch the family of 5 dive & swim. They even came up to the boat while we fished. Lots of chattering squeaking and its obvious they do have a language man will never understand- we are higher beings?

Be glad your dad can help out, I used to have a neighbor kid that would ride shotgun while plowing and he would shovel sidewalks for the old folks. Last year he wouldn't even get out of bed to make a few bucks. No ambition in this generation... Oh and im glad your Pop is healthy enough to do that kind of stuff- be sure to thank him ! :D

Big Brown truck brought my new ground blind yesterday, might set that up to air out today.

This covid quarantine is driving me somewhat stir crazy, I'd really like to get some errands done but im not doing them because I'm considerate of others, IF im still contagious (I dont think I am) I won't take the chance of going out. I could go sit in the woods but im not sure if dragging a deer would be a good idea with my lungs still being somewhat congested. Maybe I'll load some ammo

What buttercup means?

Because the buttercup is so closely intertwined with children, the symbolic meaning is understandably synonymous with this theme. Although there are variations, quite often the flower is said to represent joy, youth, purity, happiness and friendship.

Due to my further studies on the Buttercup, I will certainly refrain from using the term when referring to certain people....

Also be clear if I receive abusive or threatening PMs they will continue to be made public.

Man, do you have thin skin. I guess your threshold for "threats" and "abuse" is so low as to be laughable. Our blacks in this country do the same: They invent stories to make it look like they have the moral high ground. It's complete bollocks to suggest that I have "abused" or "threatened" you in a PM. Prove me wrong. 8)

After someone quits a task, it's poor form to jump in and try to run it again. If I recall correctly, I also thanked you for the help. Grow a set, John.

Funny.
I have an idea GK more closely resembles the people who lived here 200 years ago than 2/3 of the people that live here now.
Pathetic.
"Oh bother", said Pooh, as he chambered another round.
