Ain't that somethin! Texas deluged with rain and we have been dry........

That is a nice 44 Spl on Guns International...but it's new!!!!!....you can't shoot that one unless your rich and extremely wealthy like Old Savage......it's a very late 2nd gen with the wood grain box with cheap styrofoam.......the ones to have are the early 2nd gens........some of those are made with 1st gen parts and even came with the same pre war black box.....mmmmmm.....

You can NEVER pay too much for an early Colt/fine Smith unless your stupid.....or really really old and even then it may not be an investment for obvious reasons but a great satisfaction will become you...., unlike dumping 5 g's for real estate school taxes only to see the inner city kids throw the books out the window protesting because of something that happened 20,000 miles away and 200 years ago.

Keep scrolling and you will see real 44 Spls....waaaaaaaayyyy over priced are those Triplelocks....I remember seeing the two tone 1950 Target years ago..the only one like it.....it gets passed around.....I remember it at $3500

Some 20 years ago I walked into a gunshop with Matt Olivier, a member of the esteemed, obnoxious, and self centered, "Shootists" and while he was grabbing a 4 screw Model 29 I spied a nickel plated K-22....mmm...never saw one so I bought it for 3 something, researched it along with a factory letter and find only 15 were ever factory produced all going to a police dept in Baltimore.......sold it for 25...

Aren't you supposed to be putting up rafters?

You leave Jay to me.....him and Tom are my cash cows.....

Stop using big words that I have to look up......abscond.....I barely made it out of pre-K...an flunked K...and was expelled in the first grade.....when I was doing life plus 1,000 years in prison by the time I was 8 I took a send away class to learn the alphabet.

verb
past tense: absconded; past participle: absconded
leave hurriedly and secretly, typically to avoid detection of or arrest for an unlawful action such as theft.

Six, I bought a new 44 Spl 7.5" in a beautiful wood box. It had factory ivories. Took it out to the desert on the way home. After I shot the first cylinder full I found they would not eject. The clearance at the gate was too tight. I used a round stick ceramic stone to open up the gate so 44s would clear. That takes the CCH off and it is just a silver color. But, cold blue brings the colors right out again. Wonder why I let that one get away.

Now if you take a Pietta 1860 Army and put cold blue on the chemical CCH it just turns it blue ;-)

Well it was nice here today.
Took a 3hr power nap when I got home.
Got up, swilled a coffee and cranked up the old John Deere for the first mow. She ran like a top.

Then I dragged the old Harley out of the cellar. Took a quick test run as I'd had the rear end off for a new tire and brake pads a while back. She's rolling cool as ever.

Then I started in on the Currie Antirock swaybar install on the Rubicon. I had to pull the winch and bumper. Then got the old swaybar and disconnects off. I got the hyfax bushings installed in the tube crossmember. Just have to run the new, splined Currie swaybar through the crossmember and install the arms.
I've wanted one for years. Good project done.

Ha! You hear that Fred?????....."chemical case colors on Italian j..u....n....k......? :D .....(Pietta? CAPITAL J.U.N.K.)

Your issue could have been with the brass combined with tight tolerances.....I had that issue with a New Frontier 44 Spl...was R-P brass with one lot......the 3rd. gen SAA is much more desirable in the SAA frame that the New Frontier but......it's the other way around with New Frontiers in the 2nd gen persuasion....

A lot of it is I just love this time of year. It was warm today so I quit working in the garage a few minutes ago. The warm brought out the mosquitoes and now that its cooling down they get really aggressive when they see and light or warmth. Got the winch and bumper bolted loosely back on. I will finish in the morning.
I snapped pics of the install to send my kid. I will post some tomorrow. They are a slick rig. They give a way more balanced feel offroad compared to disconnects.

I saw your video ....man! You got the S!....a hydraulic ramp to get you out of the basement!

That ain't fair..you have alllll the toys...I bet Gunny don't have a special ramp like that.......he's gonna get jealous when he sees that!

Haha yeah. We built that a long time ago actually.
We built a gantry in the rollway. At the top is an ATV winch and a car battery. The winch cable runs down and hitches to the cables you see my dad hitch to the winch. There are wheels mounted on each side of the ramp that roll along the side of the wall.
The bike is very low and long so there is very little breakover clearance. We made this so it didn't have to pitch over the steep angle from the stairs to the drop outside.
Works great!

We can put a lot of stuff down there to work on. It is a 42" door.

Oh OK.....that is cool and I still say Gunny is gonna be vveeerrryyyyyyyyy jealous........

Hey! I know I'm Italian and I know your Polish so if we both put our heads together, we could make up what Old Savage is, "King of da Soft Stuff."......I'm thinking Jay...if you have a drop outside why don't you just bring in a Bob Cat with a loader and dig some dirt and the cement steps so you can just drive in level? (I really don't know the whole scoop but that's what a guy I know did. He got a backhoe and dug out the bank and put in a garage door which he uses to bring in all kinds of heavy machinery........he's got milling machines, lathes (yes, plural) huge belt sander, plasma cutter, etc......

This guy is so smart he tapped in the electric line before the meter and runs everything for nuttin! Been doing it for at least 30 years and he's lucky I'm not a vindictive person as we don't talk anymore....

Y’all missed a good one today was under the super duty changing the front differential fluid when I dropped a ratchet in the pan.... which in turn caused all three quarts of 85-140 gear oil to splash ALL over me. I really hate the stench of gear oil. I would rather gut a guy shot deer . DANG that sucked. Last weekend I tore the lid off on my Vortex red dot. Blankitty blankity blank blank. So I called the customer service center to order a new one. No sir there’s no charge l. Thank you for being a Vortex VIP customer( everybody’s a VIP customer I ain’t nothing special). The box arrived today. Hmm pretty big box for a flip up scope cap? Well inside said same box was the scope(red dot) cap AND some stickers AND a Brand new Vortex ball cap that is actually large enough for my ol bucket head. Well done Vortex.

Yeah I know what you mean bud. There isn't enough drop for that or that's what we would have done when my parents did the addition. I have a doghouse rollway at my house too, but it is only a standard 2'8" door and is a steep stairway. I had all I could do to get a dirtbike down there one time.
One other time, I had a hard job getting this massive load of Colts and Winchesters down there. I found them all about in a little town about 520 miles south of me. :D

Glad to see Vortex really came through for you FW.

Oh! And I really don't mind the smell of gear oil. That's a manly scent for sure.
Women can't resist it. :D

I was afraid the middle kid blew all the seals in the Hemi in his Callenger.
He changed the oil in my garage Saturday. I know they hold 7 quarts, and he spilled at least 12 all over my garage floor.
I tell ya, you gotta try to make a mess like that. I wish he'd of left it, his "clean up" was worse than the spill.

Jay,
How does a guy (Tom) drop a ratchet in a pan and dump all of the thick gear oil on him? Either that ratchet weighs 200 pounds or it's an air ratchet stuck on high with a paint mixer attached to it......or maybe Tom really is Polish.

Used to hear polish jokes all the time. Kinda died out.

I saw that one! That was funny! Good ole days bro!

I'm watching a movie that was filmed just west of me. It was supposed to take place up in the Allagash, but ain't no wussy film crew goin up there haha.
Tom Berringer is in it. Blood and Money is the name.
He is hunting up here and stumbles into a bunch that robbed a casino. See, right there I call BS.
No robberies like that here. First, there ain't no money. Second, anybody tried it and their azz would get lit up by every hick in the place!

Ha! No money! The reason there ain't no money in Maine is the same reason I only have three guns....YOU got it all!!. Ya know, in a million rednecks there has to be one smart guy and any guy who has a hydraulic ramp in his basement is pretty smart. Oooooo...wait till Gunny hears about this....he will screw up every piece of wood he puts his hands on tomorrow......he's gonna need 50 band aids!

Good thing I'll be long asleep when he wakes up in a couple of hours.

Hey Jay.....you hear about the Polish bank robber? He tied up the safe and blew the guard!

How about the Polish terrorist who is in the hospital? He tried to blow up a bus and burned his lips on the exhaust pipe.

Then there's the Polish Special Forces who thought they had Bin Laden cornered in the bed and linen department store!

The Polish army just placed an order for 10,000 septic tanks- they are afraid the Russians are going to invade again!

Well how can I be jealous of a ramp I can't see? No link??? I don't have a motorcickle so I don't really need anything like that. I have used the winch on my quad to pull a water tank up the basement stairs into the garage.

Yup, gear oil work good for insect repellent too! Especially when thinned itch gas and lit on fire!

Got home yesterday and decided it was time to start tearing apart my screened in porch. Going to just leave it open. It's actually a large deck with roof , hardly ever spent time inside but use the perimeter deck all the time. When I built this in '96 it was part of the kitchen renovation. I realized now I can set up my ground blind on the deck and pick off tree rats!

Hey Piller- did you have any of that 2-3" hail yesterday?

Hahahaha good one buddy!

Don't listen to old Six! No fancy expensive hydraulics. Pure redneck engineering with stuff we had laying around. We spent nothing building it.
My dad is a genius like that. He was the only one in his family to go to college. Still is matter of fact. He was an engineer for 15 or 20 years till he got fed up with management BS. Told me to always punch a card unless I own the business. I listened.

When I was a kid I heard every Polish joke on the planet. My best friend was named Milskolski! He collected Polish jokes like we collected baseball cards. Had them all written out on index cards. The best joke was....they were IRISH (his Dad had been adopted by a Polish family) His Dad was about the general size and shape of a mountain. Named Buck or Mr Milskolski to me. Me and his boys decided that chewing tobacco was a manly thing so he said sure we could have a square of it to share. Hmm didn’t taste all that good but hey it was manly. Then after we each ATE some....yup hackin and a gaggin all around the house, to quote Chris LeDux. Looking back it was funny.

I like that electric pencil! Looks to me Gunny took that picture at home.....did you buy that Gunny?

Jay is downplaying his ingenuity and wealth.....THAT is a nice ramp....I've always wanted an outside door to the basement and could have had one when we had the house built but I declined it to the builder, reasoning it would be easy for a thief to enter my basement and steal my guns...by age 20 I already had 20-30 nice guns.

Polish jokes are almost as funny as minority jokes.......

Two pollocks were walking down the street and when they got to the corner there was a dog sitting there, bent over and licking his testicles......the one pollock said to his buddy, "man! I wish I could do that!" The other pollock says, "yea, but don't you think you ought to pet him first?" :D

Well Hunny....in those days and even up to about 15 years ago the guys at work...white..black..green...whatever, used to tell jokes to each other and no one got offended. The black guys would tell me "cracker" jokes and everything was cool.

In the spring after planting our garden we used to sit in the lunchroom and ask each other what kinds of vegetables we planted...you know..tomatoes, peppers, etc. ....I was telling the black guys about a new plant that came out....a plant that bore chicken gizzards and I continued telling them they now have chicken wing plants, thigh plants, back plants.etc......they all laughed except one guy....he said, "oh man, I gots to get some of those chicken wing plants .....we eats lots of wings at our house."

We all looked at each other with squinted eyes because this guy who asked was for real. ----6

Whew! Just sitting in the garage with the dog and a cold beer.
Took a little ride with old Harley after supper.

Got the Antirock all installed today. Didn't have much trouble. Was mildly concerned with a couple of interference points but no issues when I flexed it out to test it. I was worried the arms may contact the fenders at full stuff. I was also concerned the drivers side arm may hit the steering box skid plate at droop. No problem.

Thanks buddy.
It wasn't a big deal. The old swaybar, straps and bushings are removed.
The Antirock utilities the round pipe crossmember behind the bumper. You install these hyfax bushings then drive the new swaybar through the bushings in the crossmember. There are splines in the ends that the arms slide onto. The threaded rods on the links can be cut to get the right length. I just mocked everything up and then cut them to the length I needed. One end is right hand, the other is left hand thread.

When the worst case scenario happens, those upgraded Jeeps are probably the most likele vehicles around to be able to handle it. Weather emergencies, earthquakes, 70 car pileups closing the highways. I think they can handle it.

Its funny, my Jeep is a toy and recreational vehicle. I put maybe 2 or 3 thousand miles a year on it, but spend more time maintaining and working on it than my other vehicles combined.
I know it can be depended on. It is very capable and can get me and my wife anywhere we need to go. I made sure to never take it's ability to drive long distance in spite of it's off road capability.

I often see folks in the raised pickups and in almost any Jeep go onto the grass median to hit the side road when there is a traffic jam on the highway.

Right off the showroom floor a Jeep is ready to go, toss in a few modifications and they will go most places that will make a luxury SUV ( Stupid Unneeded Vernacular) cringe. Then when it's got bells & whistles like you have done if the driver has the cajones to stay behind the wheel it'll go and do just about anything. If the '08 I had hadn't starting using coolant I would have kept it. I miss having a Jeep.

My dad's best friends uncle was a WW2 vet and bought a jeep when he came home from the service. He drove them the rest of his life. He used to loan it and his hunting camp (which still stands) to my dad and his bud. The uncle and his buddies were quite a bunch, and I grew up on stories of "Uncle Zero" , and where he'd put those old flatfenders.
I've loved Jeeps since I was a kid. Bought my first one at 17, a 1959 CJ5. With the exception of a couple years, I've had one or more ever since.

Jeeps? What are they?

On another note .....forgot to put the chain up on the driveway ....some m....f.....knocks on my door at 10:30 and got me out of bed and tells me, "hey, we are doing paving down the road and we can come over and redo your driveway." I tell him, "we have a solid driveway that I just got done spending $3500 to have it tar and chipped." He says, "oh no! we can dig everything out and give you a new one." I told him to get the F off my property and slammed the door in his face.

That's why I have a chain.....

Oh! Jeeps! What are they? Everyone except the CJ series....YJ, TJ, JK, and JL
