Nope. I've never had a 97. I have an 1887 and an early model 12 20ga. I think there is a model 1200 12ga magnum over to my dad's.

Actually I prefer the Freedom Arms 97. Six has a lot of money. He could just get Freedom Arms to deliver one to me through my local GS. Yes, that is the very way to do it. Then he could have my Model 83.

Oh Lordy...just read all these posts after I signed off last night and this is what I learned.

A.) Harry's last name is Kowalski...who prunes in the wintertime, especially in Montana? (That's OK Harry, I'm half Italian)

B.) Old Savage wins...again....and he is sneaky as I can see the plans are in for the BIG win for page 100...he got me good last year........still remember him writing.."not so fast there Six"...I mean, this guy had me by seconds!!!'

C.) Gunny goes on an amusement ride slippin' 'n slidin'.....next time borrow your neighbor's car.....or call in sick.

D.) Me and GK think alike.......we both have had enough of people.

E.) Jay has the week off...he just put in his 36 hours....WHATEVER you do, DONT go for a walk in the woods and stick your tongue
on something metal because if you do and your stuck, just look due west and right between the trees you will most likely see Pitchy stuck with his tongue on his tractor so you will have someone to wave at.

F.) we had quite the rain storm last night....I see sheets of ice about an inch thick from the pond that somehow made it out of the pond.

G.) paaarrrrttttyyyy on dudes.....sorry, don't have a '97 to give away...never had one....there's no money in '97's unless you happen on a high grade one......as for Freedom Arms, they don't interest me either, while probably the best single action ever made, they have no soul like a Colt.

H.) If I had to do it all over again, I would have spent every dime I made on single action Colts and 1886 Winchesters.

I.) I'm wound up.........3 cups of coffee and a big wad of Peach flavored Skoal.

J.) Skoal Brother, just a pinch between your cheek and gum.

I got to go outside and check on this ice......winds must be 40 mph, snowing, and generally nasty......well, looks like we are all warm and toasty, except Gunny.....he's working....

Oooohhhhhhhh, here I sit, broken hearted, came to SB#1 and only passed gas.....

Well, decided to waste more bandwidth with useless photos.....last night I redesigned my wood stove top thermometer that I took from an old barbecue grill.......added a stem, complete with set screw and a heat shield which I can pick up even if the rest of the thermometer is 600 degrees.....look here, I just removed it for pictures and the pulley is 300 degrees but the heat shield is only warm......

This is where one of the cats sleep...notice the chicken bone?

This new place has lilacs that haven’t been pruned in many years, suckers and leaf trash is 3’ deep in them. Trees and such should be pruned when they are dormant, there dormant in the winter.

Boys...... I've had it. Been out snowblowing all afternoon. Did the old man's place and mine. It ain't just driveways, we have paths, turnarounds, trailer parking areas, walkways......it's brutal.
This storm was awful. Warmed up and rained for a couple hours. There is NO way I can convey here how much I hate that weather. If I wanted that BS I'd live in Massachusetts. Of course, now it will turn back off bone cold, and feeeze solid. Wound up shearing a bolt in my auger. Can't remember the last time. I keep a bunch in the garage with all my blower stuff. Back up and runnin in 5 minutes.
Man! I'm soaked to the bone.
The middle kid showed up. His truck is setting like a Prius. Something in his air suspension calved. I gave him the old Hemi (his truck has one too), to take to work. That's why I don't get that fancy garbage. Oh well, he's good kid and busts his azz. If he was a bum I'd tell him to walk. :D

I feel for ya bud, we had just enough snow last nite with the rain on top that if left untouched it would've frozen into a 3" thick ice sheet. When I plowed it was like pushing water. Nothing worse than rain on snow.
Back when I used the snow blower more I just put a couple shear bolts & wrenches in my pocket and gave it heck.

Ya, but you’d still be in comifornia, I would hate the weather, I truly enjoy the seasons. I’ve used only one shear bolt so far this winter, but it took about 20 min to replace it, big rock bent the auger flighting.

Why do you shear bolts in the snow blower ...when something like a hose gets caught in it? I thought the belt would just slip.

I hear ya Harry......I was just being myself which ain't much anymore.....on some kinds of bushes, like rhododendrons, they get all straggly and nasty looking as they age of which there is only one cure....I pulled out about 8 of them some years back.

You can do minor trimming any time of the year...the rule is never more than a third.

Fred is situated in California very well......I'd go nuts there except maybe in the north where normal people live. I can envision it now...some homeless guy decides he's going to camp on my lawn and take a dump where he pleases.....the Kubota would get started and I'd level the bucket about 4" off the ground and start driving it towards the street.....

We shop in mostly upscale shopping centers compared to the pig stys 10 miles down the road.......even our Costco is one of the best...clean, orderly, white Anglo....one day last summer I was driving past the Pet Smart and there was an Indian/Pakistani family with a mom and dad and about 6 kids begging on the corner.......the father was proudly standing with a bucket asking for money to feed his kids with a sign, all painted up nicely showing little hearts and a sun with a smile on it.....

They were all dressed nicely...

It's common knowledge that there's plenty of help given by our government and this ploy boiled my a.....NOT in my neighborhood so I stopped and rolled down the window and mom hollared out to the dad..."show some decency and be a role model to your kids and get a F. Job you lazy piece of S."

Yeah. They will shear if you hit something. It's just a "fuse" for the driveline. The belt is actually harder to deal with because the blower has to be split in some cases for access. The shear bolts are right in the front in the auger and 5 minute fix.

I'm a "trail guy" as far as Jeeps go. That's what I run up here. The Rubicon is....well..... The Rubicon. It is an icon.
While I'd love to go to Moab, I don't think it's really my cup of tea full time. Just like to see it and say I been. Same as the desert.
But I'll always be a tight woods trail Jeeper.

As a kid with family in CA I got to see a good portion of the state. From Redwood City to Woodfords Ca, not sure how many times I've been over Donner Pass. For me you can keep the lowlands, I'll stay up in the hills. Moab, naw too many gawking tourists.

Well this mornings dog walk is a balmy 24 degrees on top of snow that was rained on and is now a couple inches of ice. No still hunting on this stuff! Good thing is I didn't hack, cough or start gagging from the leftover covid! I'll take that any day!

Yes Six ya don't want to have to get into the belt on a snow blower, nightmare amount of work, I'd pay the dealer to fix a belt!

I agree Gunny. While I've never been there, the north would be the only part of California I'd want to see. My wife wants to see SF.
My dad bought a Husky a couple years ago. It us really easy to work on compared to my and his old Hondas. Splitting the drum to getthe belt is easy on the Husky. Problem is, it can't hold a candle to the Honda in its ability to blow snow and ease of operation.
All dual stage blowers suck, however. Single stage is the only way to go.
But, in our safe and nice society, the peasants can't be trusted with such equipment.
I still have my grandfather's 1963 Simplicity single stage. That thing is an animal, and will blow snow like stink. I should do a frame off on it when I retire.

I'd really like to find a 60" blower for a tractor, make up a frame & power it with V twin Briggs and have the whole thing mount to the Ranger then just ease along with the tunes cranking and blow snow when we get those 2 or 3 foot storms. Or just get a couple more Hondas and make a 3 blower rig !

Well we were going to do windows today. Don't ya know the wind and snow showers on the side of the house we were working on. Boss said nope we aren't opening up the house today. Since we have to reframe, bigger window, it would be open much longer than normal. I dint feel like working today anyhow!

Spending a good chunk of my childhood in the high mountain desert, chasing blue belly fence lizards, feeding scorpions to red ant colonies, fishing in high alpine lakes, "boulder walkin" when the rivers were down during irrigation I have sage brush in my DNA. To me thats my kinda country. All the rest of my childhood was raking leaves  .Don't get me wrong, I love trees but not leaves. Could very easily live without leaves!
I've seen saguaro cactus, been to well over 14,000' seen the everglades, the dark timber up north , and my heart lies in the sage.

As usual I'm the last one at the party to show up.....pulled a 4-2 today....

I HAD a very nice snow blower...self propelled all that good S...like 8 speeds f and 3 R...thing would blow snow a half mile. Great for walkways, down to the burn pit, to the barn, making paths for the dogs to run......now I don't in even do the driveway....just stay inside until it all melts...."old man's disease" is what I'm told.

You ever wake up in a bad mood and ready for a fight? Well, I'm there....a bad memory popped in my head as soon as I got up. ...

My dad ALWAYS carried at least a thou. with him at all times.....but like most old timers he didnt like to spend it...who knows, those Ben's might have been from the 1930's....fast forward to 2007...I get a call from the hospital......he had a major stroke and was not going to make it..........I go to hospital and some nurse hand me his "effects".....all nicely put in an envelope with a clasp on it.....

I get home and find the "good first responders" or someone, liberated his wallet of any cash.....found a "mad" five stashed.

"Old Man's disease"? Nnaaaa. I just hate people.

Hey Gunny......I have no where near the leaves you have but this year I'm buying me one of those units that fit on the Kubota 422 Z.......they are like $1500-2000 or about 1/3 of what the county charges me for school taxes so the kids can stay at home, the teachers can pull in 80g's, and the "the other" kids can throw their books out the window during their daily "protests".

One kind just sucks em up into a holding container on the back...another kind has its own engine that chops em up......

I'm done fooling with saving money for that "special need" that might come along....like a coffin.

Ain't that the truth Harry......it's all a scam.....spent 26g's to bury my mom and dad.....12 & 14....that's what they wanted....I want what you want and me and mom argue about it....she's says "Catholics consider that a sin". I believe all that has changed now..dunno....as I stopped "practicing" many years ago as that's another scam.....I can worship the Good Lord right here.

Well, at least Gunny gave me something to do today....researching the best leaf grinder....while Old Savage is sitting on his gold plated golf cart and Jay is enjoying the crusty snow, digging into his box of shear bolts.

Tom.....keep saying I have to call him.

Did you know that January is the number 1 month for people dying? I can see that......nasty weather....grass, trees, everything is all brown, even my underwear, but only in streaks...

Nasty......hurry spring...I HATE BROWN

The last I knew, it was now OK for catholics to be cremated. This is an example of my issue with the church. Must be a batphone that God calls the Vatican on when he changes His mind.
So the church told countless people they would burn in h3ll for cremation. Now it's ok. Did the condemned get parole? Maybe the cremated people just went to the same place as the molesting priests?
Let alone the people that couldn't afford a traditional funeral and cremation would have saved them a lot of suffering.
That's the result of man made institutions. Always.

Anyway.....that's enough of that.
We use the bagging system on the tractor for leaves. We have for over 30 years. Works great.

I've been thinking about a bagger attachment for my lawn tractor, sadly my lawn tractor is 25 yrs old and I can't find an exact fit. Sure there are aftermarket new production stuff the ' might fit ' im leary about buying and it doesn't work. Besides they are almost half the cost of a new lawn tractor with a factory bagger.

Just toss me in a field and let the buzzards have a feast. Not being catholic i don't care what the church says about anything! When I got spanked in Sunday school that was enough 'religion ' for me. Sure I'm a member of the local church but I find my enlightenment in the great wide world. Besides I have dogs, we know what dog spelled backwards is, can't get closer that that!!

Well,
We three think alike......I would much rather have my family enjoy the money than spend it on a corpse. I hear you can be buried on your own property........naaa....a $1,000 with the mighty propane heat and then the bone crusher.....

One day I was over my son's and he was showing me around his new house...(in Colorado).....he's a hoarder like me....good hoarder........all kinds of powder, primers, you know......I asked him what was in the square box on the shelf...he said, "that's Cynthia" his wife who died......he wa s waiting for the kids to get older so they could climb one of the "14 teeners".....they may have already done it by now.......Cynthia was an avid climber, extremely physically fit, ate right, never drank or smoked, nurse practitioner, ......and still died at 39 from liver cancer.

Anyway, on to better things.....a switch broke on my gunroom vacuum cleaner.....a high dollar one......wife used to use it for her horses.........I took it apart last night to make the diagnosis.........tonight I'm gonna cut a hole through the metal housing and install a single pole house switch on it with a couple of self tappers..... :D (how's that for rednecking Jay?)

Well, it's almost dark....

Thats a shame about your daughter in law. Doesn't matter who you are, what you do if its your time...

I've had my dogs cremated, Lady Rimfire Valentine was the first. Wish I could have cloned her! Then Tramp the JRT so they could stay together as they were cat killing buddies. Then one of my pups from the first litter, Little Man as he was known. Bad heart, how the vet cried over that! Then Dixie. Though she didn't hunt she was a great dog, dad's constant companion, she sits on top of dad's urn.

GEEZE SOMEONE CHANGE THE SUBJECT ALREADY!!!

Haha first class rednecking bro!
My buddy just left. He was over to clean my furnace. He is a lifelong friend and a 1st class burner man.

I will admit, i feel real bad for Six's boy. That is too young to lose a wife. Looks like he has a great family. I saw him one time on a Harley forum too.
I can't imagine a day without Kristy. She is awesome and has everyone's respect. I wish I was half as tough as she is.
I hope your son finds someone buddy.

We have a pet cemetery out behind the garage but it's running out of space. I think we will definitely have Zoey cremated. We are dreading that one already. She has been a great dog.
So far Gracie is shaping up really well too. She is just so beautiful I have to be on guard to not overlook things. It's like having a really hot girlfriend and trying not to notice she is a bi#$h. :D

Whoa.....that is NOT me......it's stupid........people who steal are either "those others" or shanty Irish and those guys will take those underwear home to sniff, rewash, or full in a hole in their shanty to keep out the cold.

Look at the steering wheel...right side.....those underwear are probably for the shanty Irish.

My keys for my Jeeps, ..., the only keys I have....are in the ignitions......I have a reputation around here...it works....

On the news today some hood rats were tying up a guys car was th a yellow strap and attempted to pull it away with an Acura...the owner came out of his house and killed the guy driving the Acura....can't remember what happened to the other guys.....it's all on 6 ABC Philly....

Fred, if we wanted to hear a Californian we would have passed gas.......it's just a matter of time before the whole state breaks off and floats away......and eventually will find its way to Africa so get your loin cloth and spear ready.....and your AIDS meds... :D

Not sure what the number of beans in a van has to do with Calif. drifting to Africa.

On the other LAPD is offering a 50k reward. This spotlights the question of liberal DAs and judges allowing these criminals on the street.

Now 250k I see.

Because 240 don't fit in the can.

So one of the guys in the club traded his F150 in. Dealer said give us till Christmas and you'll get your new one. So first of the year he calls the dealer, salesman says yes I see you were here October 13th, what's the question? That's the day he ordered the new truck. Ford doesn't know where his new truck is, when it'll be built or delivered. Why?, the collision avoidance chip- from China... Why aren't the auto makers making these chips, or a US company? I believe Trump was 100% right in trying to get this country to be more self sufficient!

Coffee still not taste right.

I've never counted baked beans but perhaps I should start..... I had a pal who collected bean can labels with spelling mistakes, he only ever found one...

Gunny, I was told that due to new cars being hard to get second hand car prices have gone up in the UK. BTW I put a slug of brandy in my tea or coffee it tastes yuk.

OS, I hope California on floating it's way to Africa is well lit up at night, I'd hate to collide with it whilst paddling my inflatable crocodile... :?

Easy...California will break off and because S floats and gravity pulls down it will drift south and around the tip of S.A. and as it makes the bend the people in the floating land mass will look up and to the right and see their cousins so they will use your golf clubs to paddle the he rest of the way most likely using your sand wedge and #2 irons. The drivers will be gifts to the chiefs when they get there.

The reason there are only 239 beans in a can of baked beans is becasue one more would make it too farty. (240 for dummies)

gunny,
One of the things my son delivers on the railroad are new cars....he showed me a picture of several dozen Hell Cats......Cars are not being delivered......when I bought my latest Kubota the only one she for sale are what they had in stock and don't expect things to get normal until this year sometime.....remember I told yoû last year how they rippped me for a grand to fix the gear box on the mower deck of the big Kubota tractor. That's how dealerships have been making their money.

I can't see it going on much longer before the big colapse hits us all.
