You win a Model 36, I used to have one.

All is moot now as the daughter decided she wanted the 21. I did get an introductory education in the 21 world. When Phil got it we took it out to shoot some clays off stationary throwers. Gave him my version of shotgun Ed. He hit 25 straight before too long.

Stock didn’t fit me. My 20 ga. 870 Express is much better for my shooting. Have shot duck, pheasant, quail, chukar and rabbit with it.

Model 36's were nice guns.....the earlier 36's were color case hardened and I had one here that was NEW.....a 100% gun.....bought it for $100 at a pawn shop in Chester, Pa...one of those places you better be carrying a gun and you keep your vehicle within eyesight......you drive in a parking lot that can hold about 8 cars and there's a guy in a shack about 3' x 5' and he come out to say hello....you slip him a five because if you don't your vehicle will be cleaned out or stolen and that's if you are looking at it....

Oh! The 21....on rarities such as a 21 you really have to spend a fair amount of time researching previous sales or pending sales along with a solid background on dealing with the old guns......it would take me 3 chapters to explain.

Just had a "stop over" from my old buddy who owns the #1 gunshop in the tri county area........blah...blah....Covid........blah...blah....talked guns.....blah blah....talked politics......on the influx of Mexicans to our country he had a perfect solution........he suggested a "two for one" deal with Mexico.....for every Mexican they send us, we will be grateful and send them 2 of "our undesirables"........ :D ......he says the country will have plenty of cheap fresh fruit to eat and lower crime at the same time.

We have about 80,000 "reads" with 1750 replies.....that means the few guys on this political thread read what was wrote 45 times for everytime they replied to something!!!!! 45 times! Amazing! After all, last year, a large contingent of members stated "they never venture over to that thread."

These guys should run for political office.....maybe something like brothel inspector.

Nice day on the water, no keeper size fluke. Must at least 18". Boat ran good but the gas pumps were either not open or closed for Father's Day. On the drive home we are on the highway doing 80 when we come up along a Mercedes convertible with the top down. An older couple, he is driving wearing a mask- she is not wearing a mask.

Hey! Hey!......Ole 6 is plumb wore out.....he had to get up extra early today because he had a doctors appointment to have blood drawn....12:15 appointment so he had to get up at 11:15 am to get ready for the 2.1 mile drive. So......you all is gonna like dis........Ole 6 has his Rubicon in the garage and mom's Jeep is parked in front of it.......so Ole 6 gets in mom's Jeep and it has a dead battery because she fiddles when she comes home and she left the key on...like 4 days ago.......so Ole 6 tries to put the Jeep in neutral so he can push it to get his Jeep out of the garage.......ha! Never knew you can't put a vehicle in neutral with a dead battery.....

So Ole 6 fires up the Kubota for a jump and the battery is so dead not much is happening and he know has 10 minutes to get to the doctor.....

Ole 6 was gonna wrap a chain to the mighty Kubota and yank it out...no....doctors appointment ain't dat important.

Then Ole 6 was gonna put the floor jack under the front differential and then it would be an easy yank....no...screw those doctors...

So Ole 6 gets in his Rubicon ....fires it up.....and does 432 back and forth's and drive out the other door.......we have a Piller between the doors and with all kinds of machinery in the garage, there's not much wiggle room.....

So then Ole 6 goes to the doctor and the girl pulling the blood calls my name and wants to know where I am as I was the only one in the waiting room. I said, "here I is"....and she said "I don't think so, Mr. C is 66 years old and your just a teenager.....

So Ole 6 goes to the back room and pretends he's Fred G. Savage.....

What exactly is a collard? I know it's not the little piggy type critter...

It rumbled and flashed but very little rain, the driveway is patchy wet / dry this morning. I swear the weather channel over hypes each & every storm. Yeah sure I know these storms can be extremely destructive but geeze they really play it up. Watching the WXChannel last night you would have though Armageddon was coming.

Jack I got a Genius brand jump starter a couple years ago it is approximately 5-6 inches by 10-11 inches and 2-3 inches thick. Doesn't weigh much but it is rated to jump start a diesel with dual batteries. I then bought one for the kid and one for Mrs fwb for her unreliable pickup. You can use it for an emergency light and powering up all kinds of stuff as it has many adapters. Cool unit and I highly recommend it. Mrs FWB truck was giving her stuff one night and she called from work 13 miles away. The alternator was DEAD DEAD, battery dead and no crank no lights even. I took her Moby (my super duty) and took that jump box it would fire and run as long as the box was connected. Used a charging system analyzer 0 output from alternator. Disconnect the box... died. I put the box on bungyied it in and started the engine turned on the lights and drove all 13 miles home from a little jump box. The truck is equipped with EFI so it needs a good electrical supply to even run. With all the equipment you have laying around there on the homestead I THINK it would be a good investment. My opinion and worth exactly what you paid for it!

Hey...hey.....there Tom G. Sanford......that's a great idea and your right....when you don't know about something you don't buy it because you don't know it exists.....(Genius brand you say?) ......that's easy to remember.....I'll just think of myself.....

I threw a charger on it and she fired up an hour later when I went to try it out......

If God would have wanted women to be smart, he would have given them brains as two hours later my daughter comes over to switch Jeeps with mom....long story......she leaves her Jeep that has the top removed while there are thick black clouds overhead.....i ask mom what's going on and mom tells me she will be back in an hour..........it starts to rain ☔️....so I pull her Jeep into the garage....WTF?...can't a woman think ahead 15 minutes?

We had a serious pour down at that time for only 15 minutes and it's now a steady hard rain....Gunny ain't workin' today.....and neither am I.....so there!!!!

I like that brand and have had very good luck with them. You can charge them in the house, or the vehicle when you are just driving around. They have several levels of capacity but I went with the heavy duty because of the diesel and it was still under $200.

I am playing mechanic again, this time on the front axle of Moby. Ball joints, axles(Brand new spicer HD mutha's), pads and rotors, all tie rod ends, shocks, bearings and seals, fluid and gasket, u joints in the front driveshaft, and a complete new steering stabilizer. yippee. AND yesterday I ordered and today received a very heavy bed crossmember kit to replace a couple of the rusted crossmembers under the bed next month. I was gonna order them next week but A had them $65 off yesterday and today sooooo they are sitting in the garage waiting for the guy that is going to pull the bed for me to have an opening in the shop. An overhead crane is DEFFINATELY THE WAY TO PULL AN 8 FOOT BED.

Just got a "product notification " from Midway...
Nosler custom brass , 257 Roberts is now in stock.
Ummmmm at $116.99 for 50 peices of brass is a bit pricey for my taste.
Although if I had Sixgun money well then I'd order a thousand!

You must have had a viagra get caught in your throat.

Yep.....on the weed killer....I go up to Amish land and get the 42% stuff....$30 a gallon.....2 ounces per gallon of water. Some things I prefer the weed whacker. I like the "clean lines" along the sidewalk and paving slabs....this ain't no trailer park....

OK Tom G.Sanford.....I never concern myself with a few dollars so I'll just go down to Auto Zone or Pep Boys and get a diesel rated job.....thank you for the insight! Hey! You want a like new prewar Model 62 Winchester? A grand....that's what a major sporting goods retailer offered me for it..........if I drove as much as you do, I'd get a stripped down Honda or Toyota and run it till the wheels fell off.

Picked up the old man today and we took a ride up around the old camp. We got up a narrow trail on a high side hill and found a little cemetery way back in the woods. Only 4 stones, very old. Neat spot.

Sounds like a neat ride Jayster........looks like the cemetery is still being cared for.....did I read the one right...died in 1875?.....

Maybe they were buried with some guns.....I'd dig em up and take some pictures....maybe an old Colt single action.....

How were the flies there in the woods?

Nothing happening around here......I had some hard boiled eggs and passed some nasty gas.....blew the poor dog off the couch.

Oh! I cut my toe nails again and saved em..you interested? One is about a 1/4" long and would make a great stocking stuffer for Christmas time....

Yeah I've noticed some products getting smaller ( on the label) but in the same container.

49 degrees here, must be freezing up in the dooryard!

So I've got a bit of a quandary. I really enjoy working with the guys I work for/with, but no paid vacation/sick time, no health benefits. I've an opportunity to apply to the county as a park ranger( head ranger is a friend & has one of my puppies). County pay isn't that great but very good benefits. The county job is guaranteed 40/ week. But I've no experience in law enforcement, nor do I want to spend my time driving around the county daily. Yes much easier job but I really enjoy what I do now... Application filled out, new resume' is printed... What to do...?

One of the ranches I used to coyote hunt in Co had a cemetery on it, wrought iron fence around it, most of the stones were illegible, it was located right on the Santa Fe trail. Forgotten history .

Hey, that's why I brought the old man. To do the diggin. :D
I even had an axe in the Jeep for the big roots.
Bugs weren't tooooooo bad. Of course, that depends on what your used to. The deer flies are out already though. Very early for them.

That's a tough call Gunny. It's never easy leaving something you like. Unless the new job could be a gateway into something you do like within the county sphere of employment.
I can say, it sucks doing something you don't like. Well.....I don't mind my job, but I hate the company and people who run it.
Move up here! There are jobs everywhere! Bath iron works has been hiring hundreds of people. Some of the best naval ships come from Bath.

Yea...you gotta be careful about people digging holes.....they just might tell ya to look in then you'll feel a "tap" on the back of the head.

(Just as I finished the above line, mom called to tell me my eggs were ready. She asks me what I was going to do today and I said I was gonna dig a 6' hole....she says, "what for?"...I tell her that "after I dig the hole I'm going to ask you to walk to the edge and look inside it")

Gunny....,read the label! From FOUR quarts to TWO and a HALF.....that's a 40% reduction for the same price...

Ok...let's analyze Gunny's issue ....on a serious level........

You have to ask yourself: .....and we don't need to hear your finances or health...that's YOUR business

A.) what job are you more "wanting to go to".

B.) is money an issue?

C.) long term....are you concerned about not having benefits then going in the hospital that might force you to have bill collectors
hounding you? (the court system LOVES white guys with a bank account and other assets.)

D.) construction work is hard on a body and your not the spring chicken you used to be...dealing with lifting weight and the
extremes in temperature.

E.) how demanding each job is.....as to hours worked, the work itself, calls in the night, POLITICS---you know, "here today and your
job gone tomorrow."....

F.) length of miles traveled to and from.

G.) The most important.....(HOW EACH JOB WOULD AFFECT YOUR DOGS)

As an outsider looking in and somewhat knowing you, the ranger job fits you better....stay clean, free vehicles, outdoors, a better sense of job fulfillment, perks, AGE!! (You don't see old construction guys and park rangers seems to be old guys) kind of like being in Home Depot.

It would be a no brainer to me....I've always done what I liked to do with the exception of the a.h.'s I worked with and for.....I'm with Jayster on that.....job was great..couldnt stand the people.

I delivered steel to Bath many times. Good people there.
Gunny, I would not tell another man what to do (other than finish my Marlin stock :D ) but as I got older I felt MORE(?) secure knowing that I had benefits. When you unexpectedly get a cancer diagnosis or all the sudden your eyes need injections every 6 weeks ect, KNOWING you have sick days, health insurance, ect is security. I don't particularly like my job (some days not so bad-others SUK) but I stick with it for the security. Only you know the comfort level you have with no insurance. Would you get any kind of a retirement? Also with your personality and love of the outdoors I would think Park ranger would be something you would love. After a little OJT you might even be able to take an ambassador of love(and fluff) with you in the truck.... for community relations and all, you know.
MY OPINION AND WORTH EXACTLY WHAT YA PAID FOR IT.
GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR DECISION.

Yea...as you get older most people are situated in life........medical benefits are a top priority and why go through all the stress of dealing with lawyers..blah blah...

Or you could just dip yourself in brown ink and get it all for nothing...

I'd have to say it's a nice day...little breezy and light humidity....I blasted one and a minute later heard my neighbor gagging from 100 yards away...

With All respect to You I can say from experience that as We get older things change in a big way...I worked at My job like a nut from age 18 to 55. At 55 I had a few health issues and management changed where I worked. suddenly all the B.S. I took for years drove Me nuts .the next ten years were like one hundred till I turned 65 and could retire. We never know what health issues may be hiding as we age . health insurance is a must. The Ranger job looks to Me like a winner. Good Luck.

Same here buddy! High 60s and clear as a bell. Finally got up to the lot and twitched all that brush I cut this past spring. I twitched it up to our little gravel pit and piled it up. Once we have snow on the ground, I will burn it.

30% humidity! 60 degrees! Doctor called today to give me the results of the blood they drew the other day....he told me I have the blood of a 30 year old....NUTTIN' WRONG.....but I knew that....cholesterol is a bit high, but that runs in the family even when eating right and not chomping down on thick greasy pizza, cheap hoagies and cheaper liquor.

Last year I told him I wanted to live long enough to pee on the graves of a few individuals and today he told me not to worry about what I told him last year and that I should be good-to-go on about anyone 40 and over!------quadruple 0 Six

Ugh... Woke up at 0100, heartburn! staggered to the can to relieve myself & popped a Tumms. Then 0430 Winnie is tap dancing around the bed. I finally rolled over and grabbed her by the collar, dragging her up on the bed. Then all 3 left as I was cussing a blue streak. Gonna be one of those days...

Good to hear Ought Six!

Just read an article about SxS shotgun shooting, the author confused enertia triggers with mechanical triggers. I'm sure you guys see thing in print that is wrong as well? Where are the editors? Everyone uses the computer for grammar correction but no one edits the content! Ah well, like I said it's going to be one of those days.

Sorry you had a rough night Gunny :( but regarding the trigger on a SxS if it ain't got two it's not worth Pelosi to me....
BTW that Ranger job sounds really cool to me... 8)

Good to hear old Sixgun is going to be around for a while, I hope he keeps a lookout for Brazilian hitmen though, I hear some South American businessmen may not like him... :?

YES! I agree with the triggers my friend! Now, I'm surely not in your or Gunny's league when talking shotguns, but I like what I like.
Brazilian hit men.........!
That's a good one. Must have had your 2nd cup of.....tea?
You seem so much like a US born cowboy I wasn't sure if you drink coffee! :D
I actually like both. But the stuff we get is garbage. I smuggle mine in from Canada. It is WAY better. There are a couple beers from "the other side" I particularly like too. They don't import certain kinds, but many here have dual citizenship. That's a sweet deal.

Tea or coffee but mostly tea...now when it comes to beer I'm as fussy as I am about triggers... :D

One or two dont bother me in the least! I have scatterguns with either. Now target guns will have single triggers just for speed, yes I know 2 triggers are fast but not as fast.

Yes the only beer I care for comes from Canada. Tea or coffee for me. I do like earl grey.

Labatts Blue....back in '77 when I was on a moose hunt in a remote fly in camp in Quebec, it was standard practice to put a flag by the cabin in the middle of the week.....a plane would fly over and if the flag was out it meant for him to stop in.....so he stopped in and wanted to know what we wanted.....l tell him 5 cases of beer and that's about all I remember. It was Labatts Blue and we spent 4 days shooting beer cans. I had a 32-20 with me for fun and I must have shot up 200 rounds.

Blue is good but I prefer Molson Export ale. Room temperature- NOT cold. Why you ask? Well cuz in our fishing camp there's no room for beer so I just developed a taste for it warm! 1 year we rigged up a milk crate, rope with a float and we dropped our beer in the lake 100' deep, nice cold then the locals( trespassers) found it and took all our beer- last time we did that ! Darn Frogs!!

When your looking for one of these it's an impossible find...a million phone calls and you might get lucky.....I got lucky some years back and found one, put it in Ole Yeller, then found out it wasn't the rear after all but the chain in the transfer case so this one is still fine....Dana 35....Jay, I can put it in a flat rate box.

Ok, let's see.......

We can get Labatts Blue here. Used to get Labatts 50 too.
All the Molsons. My favorite is Moosrhead. The problem is, they don't sell all of their varieties here.
Moosehead Pale Ale is awesome! When we were on our drive up the Alcan, my kid ran out for pizza one night and brought some back. I'd never seen it. Now when me or my buds cross the border, some always comes back. :D

Hey Six,
Whatever you put in your YJ, it's better than that 35 buddy. They put them in the TJs too. They are super weak, and a c-clip axle. The shafts break easy and the tubes are thin.
What the YJs DO have, is a high pinion 30 in the front. The XJ Cherokee has em too. For some unknown reason, they switched to a low pinion 30 in the TJ. Stupid.

See?...when you have plenty of pals, these things happen.....buddy was driving by and he stopped in and handed me these....he said, "I thought you might like these!".....only 4 people can just "drop in".....all others "hit the road Jack, and don't you come back no more, no more, no more, no more.....hit the road Jack and don't ya come back no mo!. :D

It only pays to have good friends as associates will just weasel their way in and see what they can rob you of.

THATS why we have the "politically incorrect" thread.....

Oh! Back to fun things...Jay....a Dana 35 would last you 30 seconds but I managed to get 109K out of this one...I'm very small potatoes compared to the mighty Jeepers in Maine.

Oh! Da boots!...Israeli military boots, new.....The Jews make good stuff....look what they are surrounded by.
