SOLD: Target air pistol

Post by Bill in Oregon »

Need to re-home a virtually new AV-46M, the current version of the beloved IZH-46M and imported by Air Venturi of Ohio.
Sold her, fellas. Thanks.

Beautiful airgun, Bill! I know you'll enjoy it.

One of the best parts is that you can shoot them at home using a bullet trap and the neighbors are none the wiser.
I have a Feinwerkbau model 65 side lever that I traded for years ago. I was so impressed by it that I swapped the guy a 1911 straight across.

Charles Hamilton gifted me an original IZH-46M years ago. One day out at the gun club I set up a target backer at 50 meters and using the Elmer Keith type of sighting system managed a 3 shot group of less than an inch. The pellets lodged in the first layer of paper of the corrugated cardboard target backer and were at the bottom edge of the backer at that. I was holding up about half the barrel over the rear sight and holding the top edge of the front sight on the top edge of the target backer. So those pellets were dropping in like out of a mortar, but they grouped amazingly well. These pistols will amaze you if you do your part and feed them a good pellet. A single stroke pneumatic that only requires an occasional drop of lubrication is a handy pistol to target shoot with.

I'd love to hang on to this lovely pistol, but I just got an estimate for a plumbing repair that I figured would be $800-900; it came in at $7,200.

Judging by the shape of the grip, yes it is.

Joe, yes, Paul is correct — it is for a right-handed shooter.

Feed it some nice, light pistol pellets and it should do very well for you. Mine tends to shoot best with 7 gr or so. If you want a round nose, check out the JSB 7.33 grain offering. I mostly shoot mine with wadcutters, working my way through an old stash of RWS pistol fodder.

Yeah I'm in the wrong business. It's going to take me 3 months to make enough to pay a plumber just to run 12 ft of 4-in PVC from a house to a septic tank. Unfortunately, it's a rental so we couldn't wait a couple weeks like I would if were my own house and do it myself. Tennants aren't quite as tolerant of things as I am if the money is coming out of my own pocket.
