WTB: .358 jacketed bullets 200 grains or heavier

Post by jmiller »

I recently went on a search for a .358 Win barrel for my TC Encore. I eventually found one on line and it’s a 24” Fox Ridge bbl out of the old TC Custom shop. It has a 1:14 twist and the round count is said to be very low. I recently purchased a good number of bullets from a member here (Tycer) for my TC Encore .357max which are the Speer HotCore 180 grain. They’ll work in the .358 Win, but Tycer and everyone else is saying that the 200g and 225g will shoot better than the 180g in most cases. I’m hoping someone has some heavier bullets that they don’t need and are willing to part with them. Let me know if you have anything. Thanks.
FWIW, here’s what the .358 Speer HotCores did in my .357max Encore.

Trailboss was kind enough to provide me with some bullets to try in my new barrel. I really appreciate the help. This should provide me what I need for testing and evaluation. Thanks for all the help.

Thank you everyone who helped me out with bullets. Right now I’ve got enough to keep me busy for a while. Maybe things will change and stuff will become more available in the stores and on line soon. Now to see if I can get my .358 Win to shoot like my .357max does. Fingers crossed.

John, glad they arrived. USPS isn't as reliable as it used to be. I feel better knowing that you can use what I couldn't.

Thanks everyone. I have enough variety and quantity of .35 cal bullets at this time to keep me busy at the loading bench and shooting bench for the summer (that’s how this geezer spends a LOT of his free time). I’m finally getting the headspace correct on this new Encore barrel and frame, and the trigger is at an acceptable 1.75 lbs. No more misfires and it’s ready for some bench time. I’ll post some results on this .358 Win project with groups and loads tried. Thanks again.
