OT... going to Prison on Monday...

Post by Old Ironsights »

To run AV for a Drafting/CAD class to help the prisoners be more employable than me when they get out.

I have to be unarmed for half the day.

Dammit.

That will be a good thing !!!! The jobs usually available for after prison release are menial , starting jobs that are now filled with Illegal aleins .
I know of at least two parole officers I have discussed this with and they are bitting their nails over this
Usual fair for cons is to get jobs in the lower end until they can demonstarte they are trustworthy by a good reputation from the new employer . This is usualy in the form of McDonalds , Burger King , Trach companies Landscapers etc these ar no longer avaialbe to cons as they are all taken by illegal immigrants .
The exs have no where to go any more to start over another hidden problem of our illegals
The right way is always the hardest. It's like the law of nature , water always takes the path of least resistence...... That's why we get crooked rivers and crooked men . TR Theodore the Great

Yes, it's a good thing to have them to have a viable trade. I'm all for it.

Why in the hell I have to pay for it is another question.

Why THEY should get, through my tax dollars, training to get more than the Menial Labor Job that my COLLEGE DEGREE affords me (the only thing I've ever been able to get except for working for daddy...) is still a third question.

Sad thing when it's easier for a Con to learn a trade (at no cost) than for a Vet with a Degree to get a job that will pay off his student debt.

Good grief!!!! Quit complaining!!!!!!!!!

Rob a bank, pay off the student loans with the proceeds and then go to jail and learn a viable trade.

Did some work on a couple of Fed prisons during and shortly after the construction. Had a shot at the work after they were populated and turned it down. I don't need the hassles. And trust me, it would be a pain. After construction, but before they were populated, they were swept for security reasons. Then the facility was locked down. After that, to move through the facility was time consuming. One corridor, for instance had a series of gates. You stood before one, they opened it. You walked through and stood with your back to the gate and they closed it. When instructed you moved to the next. The procedure was followed at every gate. The sections weren't all that long. If you locked the place down, folks were restricted to very small areas. Now this was a "Maximum" security prison. The "Medium/Maximum" prison wasn't quite as bad, but still...

I'm visiting the "min"/farm... about 45min drive away.

The "max"/chair house is within 45min walk from my house.

For some reason the State doesn't believe I'm psychologically "suitable" for DoC work. They'd rather hire GEDs than College Grads.
