I bit the bullet!

Post by Nath »

I went ahead and loaded two 150gn jacketed hollow points, donated bullets, on top of 6gns of Herco today and it worked out ok.
A report similar to a mild 410 shotgun loading and subsonic.
Quite pleased. It means I can use that powder up and use the 30/30 on small game. Just need some more elevation.

More elevation? What sort of rainbow trajectory are you getting?

Its more a case of getting a small game load from a redundant can of powder. 50yds or less is fine.
Its all academic really at this point because I am trading up into a 94 legacy in 30/30 today. The one I've been using seems to have a higher front sight than standard. It means the ramp is half way on full power loads.
I think it's more to do with the recoil phase giving the elevation difference.

I'm glad I have options for all the bullets I now have.

Nice.
If it can't be done with a 30-30, is it really anything that needs doing? :D
