1894 legacy with crossbolt.....

Post by Nath »

...safety and 24" barrel in 30/30. Would it be circa 1970 or later? Would it have a forged steel receiver by then again?
Could it be pre rebounding hammer?
It is angle eject.
Found one for sale supposedly unfired. Seems a rare find in the UK.
Anyone got one or shot one?
Thanks in advance.

Nath.

Safety would be closer to post 80s. I believe legacy’s are 21st century guns are maybe slightly before 2000.

I had one with the cross bolt safety, a fine looking accurate rifle that would occasionally misfire due to light strikes - a rebounding hammer issue.

Thanks gents.

Re the light strikes
I've never had an issue with light strike in four rebounding hammer 1894s but have heard of it after a vain attempt to lighten the trigger via weakening the main spring.
Something I highly do not recommend.

Per Wikipedia, crossbolt safeties and CNC machining were implemented in 1992. Tang safeties came in 2003. American production ceased in 2006. Sintered receivers will tend to have a purple hue and likely freckled with rust.

I have a cross bolt safety and a few with rebounding hammers, no issues.

I know some are bothered by these types, I am not.
