Ordered a Big Horn 500S&W lever gun

Post by Bearskinner »

A shorty with a 16” barrel should be a fun toy to play with.
After shortening a 22” 500LINEBAUGH 1895 to 16.5”, I Really like the carbine size guns. They are very handy and really feel great and balance well. Won’t get it till next year, but at least I’m a month in on the list.

Congratulations, Bearskinner!! Big Horn has an excellent reputation for making innovative and quality lever actions. I hope you really enjoy it. Hey, next year isn't that far off.

I saw the news release a few months ago, about their move into Cody Wy city. From the much smaller facility, out by Powell Wy. I figured as I would be there for the Big Bore shoot in June, I would stop by and see them in person.
Handling them in person, the quality is apparent. The fit and finish is wonderful, as is the attention to detail.

.
My 500 S&W BHA Carbine is about the same size as my Guide Gun but way stronger and the 0.500” bullet is a sledgehammer.

It is basically a shortened model 1889 with modern metallurgy. The nitrided stainless is tough and beautiful matte-black.
