Uh this followed me home !

Post by 6pt-sika »

I’ve got a couple AH Fox Guns but Saturday I was in WVA at a shoot and there was a rather nice looking AH Fox HE grade in the rack for sale . For the un double gun folks an HE was the same as what was referred to as the Super Fox . Also along the same lines as Nash Buckinghams famous Bo-Whoop . Nash’s gun had 32” barrels with 3” chambers and a bit more embellishment . The one I got is 30” factory original with factory original 3” chambers . The gun I purchased has been restocked with a nice piece of English walnut in the straight grip fashion . Guns also been re-color cased and barrels reblued . Guns choked really tight .045” in the right barrel and .055” in the left . For a 12 gauge that’s XF and XXF . I shot it last night at skeet and it made targets literally disappear . Shooting skeet doubles from the middle station a target couldn’t fly far enough away that I couldn’t grab it with the shot . And believe me I let the second bird get way out several times .

Couple more . The not guaranteed was something Fox started stamping on the guns after Buckingham claimed his gun would put I think 80% of the shot in a thirty inch circle at 40 yards .

Just so happens in my accumulation of stuff I have a MEC Steelmaster 12 gauge press setup for 3” . Also happen to have about a thousand once fired REM 3” hulls as well as a thousand REM SP12 wads and a thousand WIN wads for the same thing . Also have plenty Blue Dot and Herco as well as CCI209M primers . In the next week or two I’ll figure out some 12 gauge 3” loads for 1 3/8 and 1 5/8 ounces . If it all works the 1 3/8 ounce load will be tried at atleast one tower shoot this coming season .

I've never seen a AH Fox but heard a lot of good things about them, to say I'm very envious would be a great understatement.... Congratulations.....

If more men loved and cherished their wives as much as I love bacon the world would be a much better place.

I wanted to make some comfortable 1 3/8 and or 1 5/8 ounce 3" handloads today But I have a charge bar for neither . So I put together some 1 1/2 ounce loads .

I'm using once fired REM Nitro Mag 3" hulls , CCI209M primers and Blue Dot a grain under what they recommend .

Also decided to try some with the REM SP-12 wad and some with the WIN WAA12F114 wad .

After I got them together I got a REM 870 Express to test fire one of each in the snail . You knew you touched them off but it wasn't terrible in that lighter gun , my HE probably weighs two more pounds than the 870 Express .

The recoil shouldn't be bad shot from the heavier gun and at feathered targets !

We have an early antlerless season starting this Saturday . So I thought I’d try the Fox HE with factory 3” buckshot #1 and 00 at 25 yards . Also checked the scope settings on my 6mm-06 and 260 . The buckshot patterns are 00 right then left then #1 right then left .
