The young man who stopped the person at Greenwood Mall needs special pants to make room for his cajones.

Pretty decent shooting under any circumstances, but against someone shooting with a rifle and intent upon murder it really stands out as some excellent shooting.

Besides phenomenal accuracy at long range, the news stated he was motioning bystanders to get behind him.......suggesting he might have been shooting with one hand (??).

Dickens is a hero, and undoubtedly saved no telling how many lives. From what I understand he took a rest against a pole to steady his aim, at some point in the fracas. He made good on his first shot, and that would have really helped. I don't think he was ever actually under fire, himself. Dickens undoubtedly possessed what Jeff Cooper would call the warrior mindset. He didn't panic, he kept a cool head and he saw what needed to be done and he done it. And that is why he prevailed.

A few lessons, I see from this is, put out the effort to learn how to properly carry you CCW handgun, no matter what the weather, etc. Dickens was wearing shorts and a tee shirt, yet he was carrying probably a medium sized Glock, from what I heard. The gun obviously held at least ten rounds of 9mm, as I don't think a reload was involved. Someone said he had a Glock 19, but I don't know if that is correct, it may have been strictly speculation.

Bottom line is he possessed the shooting skills needed, he was adequately armed, and he kept a cool head, and he didn't freeze up and took action immediately. And that's what counts.

.
Here was a practical review of CCW options in the context of the Greenwood Mall shooting.
