Prayers for Nath and Gamekeeper

Post by Rusty »

I see our weatherman is saying the temp in London is 102 degrees, Paris is 104 degrees. I know you folks over there aren't set up to deal with temps of this sort so I hope you are able to stay healthy and comfortable.

Hope they can stay shaded up and hydrated. Maybe they have basements in their homes?

I spent 4 days near Linz Austria ~3 weeks ago -- 85 degrees and muggy at night, in a "resort hotel" that had NO fans and never even heard of air conditioning. Think I slept maybe 2 to 3 hours each night... And that was before & after spending all day in a HOT conference room... Geez...

I left there thinking I'd come back and make millions selling AC systems there, but if the buyers were willing -- then Carrier or someone else would have already done it, right???

Oh -- and I am still waiting to get my luggage that was lost on June 27th by Air France!

Panama, 1990
....truly a 3rd world country...had air conditioning almost everywhere. I think even the poor would spend money on air before flush toilets and laundry equipment. Of course, the average year round was 90 - 100 with 90 - 100 % humidity. The Army barracks were too cold. I had to buy a blanket at the PX

Temperature where I am got to 95f for a couple of days but a straw Stetson and plenty of cold water to drink I just thought of my time in Arizona and went Squirrel hunting as usual, couldn't use my muzzleloader as everywhere is tinder dry and being out of card wads every shot would be potentially incendiary
Many thanks for your concern, I appreciate it... :D

A Stetson and ample hydration. Perfectly sensible response to the heat. We hit just under 44C here in west central Texas yesterday and only "cooled off" to 30 C overnight. I ain't sleepin' either ...

Topped out at 106f yesterday in the Mojave desert and have been in the house with the AC going all day! Mid to upper 90's to 100 for the next TWO weeks here, at least!

Thanks fellers. It is a lot cooler now here in the UK. That said our home is now a hot box! At least a cool breeze is blowing through now.

I did, but couldn't patent the idea.

Put on shorts
Jump in a lake
Instant water-cooled shorts!

Southern Maine has been unusually humid, in the upper 80's.
Low 90's in Sanford this afternoon!
I can't wait for it to pass!
The Gulf of Maine is now 61 degrees.
Perhaps this weekend I'll jump in!
Ball shrinking cold water is the remedy for this heatwave!
Although a few Great Whites have been spotted!
Stay cool gentleman!

Was that also known as the Cape gun?
Good for you John.

I am hoping to get out later with one of my flame throwers now it has cooled some. I will still need to be cautious.

How do you load yours?

THREAD DRIFT...

Yes it was advertised as "the Cape Gun" why I don't know. :?
I'm having trouble getting muzzleloading stuff at the moment, I usually use op card wads but have gone back to using toilet paper wads so I haven't loaded it up to capacity yet just 1oz loads of mixed shot over triple 7. Still got a lot of experimental work to do but it did its job each time I took it out.
Tinder dry conditions and uncut wheat make paper wads too dangerous, at least it's a lot cooler now could still use some rain though.

I remember riding fences on a horse with my brother when we were kids. We would come up to a windmill that had one of those concrete tanks for the water and we would just dump ourselves out of the saddle into that cold well water. It was a shock to the system but we were young and hard. Never had trouble sleeping in those days, though we did not have any air conditioning in the truck or house.
