Amazing! I'd have never expected it to drop a big bull elk so quickly, and easily. Wonder what his load and bullet was for the .45 Colt?

Down the page they say it was Buffalo Bore Ammo. even with mild loads I had a 325 grain bullet penetrate 36" of dirt and sod at 45 yards.

It did not specify which Buffalo Bore load it was, but I imagine that this fella isn't about to stuff one of their romper stomper near .454 Casull loads in an 1873.

Report did not seem to be significant and I'm betting that this was a standard pressure load.

This fellow was using standard Federal factory loads which probably whistle right through most deer.

Nice. I have used a lever gun in 45 Colt to take deer before.

That was impressive. While surfing after that one, I found this one of a 45 Colt +P out of a Rossi. Granted this was only 10-12 feet away, but the effect on the ballistic gelatin surprised me! :o

My 300 grain handloads for my Winchester 1892 will kill anything in North America without question. I shot 1 round at 50 yards that blew thru a pork shoulder wrapped in deer hide, then 6-1 gallon water jugs and exited. The exit hole was easily larger than a golf ball. These are just at +P ratings not even close to Paco's max loads

That elk dropped like its' spine had been severed. That's a hell of a shot! At nearly 72, I wouldn't have attempted it with buckhorn iron sights.

I've taken many Texas critters with the 45 Colt, rifle and handgun. The LEE 255RF has accounted for the most with the rifle, 300 gr RF in the Bisley. Very accurate and effective. Awesome cartridge...
