Coyote attacks of people, especially children are becoming more common, contrary to what coyote lovers say. In urban areas and even some rural areas where hunting has fallen out of fashion (read too many urbanites moving in) or has become illegal.

It’s not magic. They are predators and will eat any critters they can kill. They are also territorial and will defend their turf if they think they can do it unharmed. Then there’s the potential for mothers protecting their young or den.

They typically move into a den sometime before giving birth and don’t want to loose it. Again, it is magic it’s nature.

Decades ago a child was attacked and calls to eliminate coyotes from the neighborhood went up. Outsiders overcame the residents and nothing was done. Later a child was killed. When action was finally taken the problem was much worse. And yet, the same outsiders even tried legal action to control the coyotes.

It’s sort of NIMBY in reverse.

My daily carry. Luckily only an occasional timber rattler to be avoided here

Scott Kolar of SK grips hooked me up with some of his beautiful mammoth ivory grips and Gunsite did a great job on the design of the LW series 70 Commander.

Short trigger, good sights and clean. Just the way I like them.
