Old Loading Tools

Post by CBinNH »

An older friend of mine brought over a box of older loading tools.
Said he has had them laying around for years, never thought much of them.
He asked me what they might be worth as he is thinning out his possessions.
Winchester & Ideal 32-40, 38 S&W loader & moulds + odds & ends.
Any help appreciated.

I have a bunch of old tools like this. In fact, that is the way I load for my old .50-70.

I bought most of mine on ebay. There is quite a market for them there.

I also did business with the 310 Shop for some time and he was an active buyer and seller.

However, it appears that he is out of business.

I see a roll crimper at the top of the pic, along with what looks like a priming tool for shot shells. It MIGHT be a depriming tool as well, but I only see two handles. The depriming tool would have a third one to press a chisel tip tool down to remove the primer from the shell. If he can identify what they are, they can bring a pretty penny on Fleabay, or maybe on GunBroker. I was amazed to see what some are going for the last time I cruised the auctions.

The shotgun setup at the top are interesting, but don't get big money because there's so many of them surviving still. It might get $75 with all the shotgun related stuff with it.
The Ideal tong tools will get good money if it has the depriming pin, which 90% don't have. But without the pin and a common caliber it's probably a $40-$50 tool.
The two Winchester tools are the 1882 tool in the flat one and the 1894 tool is the round one. About 450-$60 each, unless they were in desirable calibers.
Mold with wooden handles appears to maybe be a Winchester or Ideal? Either way about $40, unless it's for a rare caliber or weight size.
The gold looking tool on the right appears to maybe be a re-depriming tool for shotgun shells. That's one I haven't seen and since it's a shotgun tool I'm less familiar with them. Can't say for sure what it's worth, as it might be cheap or something fairly rare.

Some more pics. The shotgun stuff looks kind of beat up & rickety. I didn't do pics of it.

The decapping pin on the Ideal tool is a homemade replacement, not built like the original was. Better than none, but doesn't add value. The 1882 tool in .32 S&W is one of the most common calibers, so doesn't add value either. The .32-40 1894 tool, and the .32-155 mold go together as they're both for the .32-40. Not that they need to be sold together, but anyone wanting one will likely want the other.

Thanks for all the info. I may just try to sell them as a group.

That would be easiest, but also result in the least money. People usually expect to pay way less if they have to buy tools they don't need or want in order to get a couple they do want. I'd expect to maybe get 50-60% of prices I listed from anyone willing to buy all of them.
