80,000 psi in a 'steel and brass case'...sounds like a bi-metal battery waiting to corrode when subjected to harsh storage, yet the other competitor is plastic-cased, which seems vulnerable to lots of new problems we may find out too late

The plastic rounds and 6.8 weapons are already being issued to select units. Only time will tell as to what scale it will grow.

They may "approve" it.
But that's a lot of money that could be better used buying votes and flying illegals around the country to help consolidate the democrats power.

They've been talking about it for almost 100 years now, so a decision may be close... or, not.

Probably, the last two choices for small arms calibers have been iffy at best. Maybe this one will actually be worth a darned.

Never understood why they didn't make the M16 or M4 platform in .308 for the military. It's superior in every sense.

While I agree the 7.62 is far superior to the 5.56, the AR platform is junk. Two generations of my family have found the M14 far superior to the M-16 and its offspring.

They were when they were introduced in the 60s. Things have very much improved since then.

Eldest was in Afghanistan. His M4 was insufficient to the task. He “found” an M14 and was much happier. Seems he actually listens to his old man.

Me and you both. Just trying to reinvent the wheel. It would also provide ammo for multiple weapons platforms.

Depends on how successful the lobbyists who represent the shareholders are......
Technically, there's really no good reason for a change.

Yep - cynical, but somebody tell me I'm wrong!

You are not wrong....the military industrial complex gets nervous when there's no ongoing wars to line their pockets.
