Do those things have a specific name other than just pre model 10? I have one that belonged to my uncle that got killed on Iwo. Anyway, when I look for parts and Smith's to work on it, might be nice to have specific name.

That's a nice pre war Military & Police....just those stocks are worth a couple of hundred.....it has the pre war "long throw" hammer. After the war the short throw hammer was introduced to speed up lock time.

There's quite a bit of those guns around as the m&p aka model 10 was Smith & Wessons bread and butter gun....it kept everyone working. The serial number should just be a number, with no letter prefix.---006
