.429 cal 200 grain nosler JHP

Anyone have experience with this bullet? wondering if it might lend itself to 44special +P /skeeter level loads and still expand, or is it a magnum velocity option only?

Nosler Book #9 lists it in the 950 fps range in the 44 Special section. In the bullet reference section they describe it "Allows for reliable expansion and maximum accuracy across a abroad velocity range."

I use the Hornady XTP bullet with a sabot and 90 grains of ffg Goex in my 50 cal. Hawken. If I remember correctly I got around 1700 fps. It expands reliably on whitetail. I've probably killed 15 or so with it. I also load it in the 44-40 ahead of some WW296 to take whitetail with my 73s. It's a good bullet.

Remember, it starts out as large as many bullets hope to expand to. Put it in the right spot and it will work find whether it expands or not.

I have used them in my M77 Ruger and a double rifle I have in progress. Inch and a half accuracy at 50 yards pushing them about 1400 fps.
I haven't done enough testing to determine in the bullet, the gun or the velocity was the main contributor.
Online search seemed to reveal that was about normal for an M77 in .44 mag.

Ray, that 1.5" at 50 yards was from each barrel, separately. Still trying to work up the right load and haven't started on regulation, yet.
