What the heck?

Post by Scott Tschirhart »

This morning I went out to the Jeep and someone had been inside. The center console was left open and things were disturbed.

However, I had two $20 bills in there, a box of .30-30 shells, a box of .45 ACP and two Wilson Combat 1911 magazines. Nothing was missing.

All the change was left where I put it.

Neighbor across the street says the same thing happened to his truck.

I went 3 miles away to my ex-wife's house and her whole neighborhood was hit the same way. She had $80 in the center console and they did not touch it.

I wonder what's going on?

I also wonder how soon Amazon can deliver a new game cam.

I believe I did, but its possible that I did not. No signs of forced entry.

There is an electronic device that can generate some incredible number of frequencies to activate your door locks. Bet they have one and may just be having fun with it.

Check the vehicle registration. They seem to be sought after by thieves. They got my neighbors car a while back. All they took was the registration and proof of insurance.

It's aliens.

No human would leave 30-30 and 45acp ammo.

P.S.
If you have a soft top, don't bother locking it. They will just cut your top, then steal your stuff.

This MO is obviously inconsistent with 'car burglars' as they're referred to in some jurisdictions. I've worked a lot of them and they always took cash and change. The only incident I've seen like this was a group of 7-10 year olds who snuck out of the house and snooping through cars for kicks. They were also at home for the holidays, so there was nobody going to roll them out at 6AM.

On a more serious note, ask around and see if anyone is missing keyrings (potentially house keys) or garage door openers. If so, stay on your toes.

^^^ This.

I switched (put in a wall switch for its power) my garage door opener so it wont work when Im not using it. Too much junk for a regular vehicle in any event, so I mostly open it from inside unless coming back on the bike.

Isnt it amazing how many people post without reading the thread?

I've had my soft top cut at trailheads even when I left the doors unlocked. I sometimes think if they don't find anything to steal they do it for spite.

Registration papers are in the safe and my insurance information is on my phone. So no documents to steal.......hmmm?

Just looking for guns?

Hard to believe they wouldn't grab some obvious cash, but who knows their logic. Maybe thinking if they don't take anything, they can't get in trouble.

It may be some kind of teen or pre-teen thing, where they enter a car, take a few cell pics, and post it on some kind of secret site.
