today, at roughly 6 pm, finished my very last day working ! at 74 i am finally retiring.... and no, i will not do fill in work [ they scheduled me for that already, but i said no !
it was really a grind this last week and half.... so many patients heard about this and wanted their back injections, etc. it is hard to stop .... and i really do feel guilty, but i just turned 74 and i have guns to shoot and work on, places to go, and a 7 month old grandson [ my first] who needs me to teach him things ! if i dont start soon , i wont get to most of the things i had planned to do.

My dad retired at 62 and said he didn't know how he found the time to work. Going every minute.

My dad retired at 62 as well. He got on his boat and spent the next eight years sailing the Caribbean. He now spends the winters in FL and comes home to play with his rental properties, go sailing and hang out at our cabin. He's harder to find now that he ever was running his business.

I retired at 65 a few years ago. Now I work one day a week for extra spending money just because I want to , not because I have to do it. Enjoy the New Free Time.

The grandkids will be The Biggest responsibility! I have 2 grandsons that I am teaching firearms safety and general gun handling. The 8 year old wants to learn to hunt so there will be that. They are pretty much a full time job.

For me, one of the most needed skills in retirement was the ability to say "No". Some people can see your retirement as a vacuum needing to be filled, and they have just the things to do it!

Your milage may vary, but as a retired electrician I have turned down a ton of work. I'll help those who are really in need, but for so many I'm just more convenient or worse, they think I should fix they're problem for free.

Man is that the truth. I actually had someone tell me I might as well help them because I didn't have anything else to do. Excuse me!!! Let me show you my plans.

Only thing I got wrong was not prioritizing time for my wife. But I'm working on that. Better every day.
