Looks nice to me if it's solid on the inside.

In today's gun market that's a lot of gun for the price. Especially with the special order features it has!

What do you want it for?

Investment.....excellent choice...you could double or triple your money here in the states.

For shooting....you want a near excellent bore condition for the smaller calibers......sewer pipes and bad crowns will still shoot decently but if you want a 2-3" group at 100, you need excellent bore condition otherwise you will have to settle for 6-10" groups.....or worse...

Yes, you could get it relined.....that's what I would do.....for that money it's a solid financial choice to spend the extra 2-300 assuming the action is good.....there may be hidden flaws that are not worth the aggravation.......I'd walk in there with a dummy round or two, made from factory ammo, load it and see if it functions then load an empty case with a live primer and see if it pops.

Buying an old gun is like buying an old car.....if your knowledgeable you can increase your self worth and if it's beat with hidden flaws, it's a bottomless pit........that's why I never owned a boat.......the best two days a boat owner has is the day he buys it and the day he sells it......... :D ---006

Thanks for all of the replies

For some unknown reason I haven't been able to post anything here since this one went up back in December. That situation has now (equally mysteriously :?: ) resolved itself.

I missed out on this one. While the ad appeared active at the time of posting it had already sold.

Still looking. What I'm finding is that there are very few 44s turning up. The majority are 32s and most have button mags, including carbines.
Prices range from around $500 to $1500 (US 357 to 1070).

You're not the only one who's had trouble. I've NO idea what is going on, we've done no changes on this end. Glad you're back online with us. Good luck on your hunt. I've seen exactly ONE levergun down here in Coffee Country. A Marlin 39 that was stamped and registered as "Remington" because the doofus running the registration back then had NO idea what a Marlin was...

Sounds like a good deal. They aren't making any more of those.
