375 Winchester does it again

Post by TedH »

The 2021 firearms deer season was very good to me. I harvested this bruiser on the afternoon of opening day, after passing several small bucks throughout the day.
I was watching a couple does milling through the woods and could hear another deer coming before I could see him. I was ready when he showed himself in a narrow opening at 110 yards. Crosshairs were on him in a second, trigger squeezed the next second, and he was on the ground the second after that. The 200 gr Sierra was very effective.
Once I got up to him it was immediately clear he was my best whitetail yet.
Rough green score of a hair over 170.

Fine job on the rifle but man, that's the buck of a lifetime. Here I am 82 and have killed around 300 whitetail and only one of them as good as that. Congrats man!

Great job on the #3 and the buck! I have always disliked those slick little carbine butt plates.

No, I did not get to weigh him, I do the processing myself. And we don't have check stations anymore, that's all done online now. I was hunting the family farm where I grew up, and called the folks house after he was down to have Dad bring the Gator down. Dads 83, and my brother had a broken foot, so I knew I had to drag him uphill to the trail quite a ways by myself. After I got him there, I'd say he weighed about 500 pounds. 😆

Agreed the fit n finish and metal on those are horrid.
What are you using for a scope? Is it an EER?

Do you say this one is bigger than the one in your avatar foto ?

If it is then double wow !
Yes, this buck has heavier bases and longer G2s. Will probably beat that buck in my avatar by 10 points or so.

Tasty venison for the freezer and a nice rack for the wall, too.
