The Decision To Open Carry In A Riot

Post by Blaine »

Another angle to consider is that those ANTIFA goons saw an opportunity to steal an AR-15 from a young kid.
In Washington State, we have constitutional open carry, but I do not do so in the city. With my age and poor shape some mob of goons could take my sidearm from me very easily.

While I support the idea of open carry, unless I am hunting I won't do it.

Same here.

And I tend to avoid riots (but won’t criticize those who don’t).

But if a riot came to visit, I’d be open-carrying a rifle (because I don’t have a flame-thrower).

I support carry in any fashion HOWEVER its pretty well understood that open carry makes you a target for attack. and very few civilians train in weapon retention tactics

The Decision To Open Carry In A Riot......
....is NOT a good one.

If you're defending a business, for instance, you'll have it in your hand(s) already.

Otherwise, you're a target.

I agree with any carry also but sometimes you have to be smarter than the goons you find yourself in the midst of.

I will not open carry unless I'm kicking around the woods.
But I sure as heck carry concealed most of the time!

Outside of hunting and the like I do not open carry. I never leave the house without carrying, just not open. Furthermore I am a firm believer in what I've heard called the "Grey Man" concept in that I do not wear anything ( NRA shirts, Pro 2ND shirts, etc) that draws attention to the crazy . I don't want to be the "first" target for the gun toting Biden voter that comes through the door.

Nothing like the "element of surprise". With open carry, a guy shows all of his cards which is not the way to win a card game.

WHEN i am plinking and playing in the woods with my rifles, I always always carry a side arm as conspicuously as I can. you might be surprised how many passers-by look over the weaponry. I just make sure the lurkers get a good look, and off they go.

I don’t go to riots.

If I end up in one it will have to come to me.

That being said, I will defend my people and my property and make no excuses for it.

ALSO, I do not criticize those who do go to riots to help their neighbors. When the police cannot or will not do their job, I think it falls back on the people to stand up and do something about it.

Exactly. I don't go to them. Summer 2020 there were incidents in Raleigh not far from where I work. I put a wonder nine with a uncle mikes belt and holster in my console and a SKS with multiple stripper clips in my trunk. If I had to leave my car due to unrest I was going to visibly and heavily armed. I would rather avoid the matter if possible

Open carry worked well for a group of asians who were on the roof of their store during a riot. If I remember correctly there were around 10-12 all armed with rifles. Looking down on the riot with rifles in full view. The rioters took one look and walked past their store to smash and loot the next one. They kept each other safe and were in a defensible position.

YesSir, I remember that....They were on their own property, too. Not roaming the streets.
