What's more American than shooting a 1911 on Election Day?

Post by 2ndovc »

There's others to vote for, I'm sure but I needed to make a trip to the range anyway.

I've been loading up .45ACPs and .38 Spls to send with my dad when he heads beck to his FL home. I'd picked up a large box of Berry's 185 gr plated FPs and realized I hadn't tested the bullet to make sure it feeds and shoots well. So I leaded up half a box and ran out this morning.

Sunny and 38 degrees out this morning, but no one around. My dad has the same National Match that I do and they never disappoint.
Wasn't really shooting for tight groups, but did just fine for one hand at 20 yds.
Bounced the rest off the 18" gong with my Turkish 1911A1 knock off. These things are just darned fun! I have over 1000 rounds through this one and Zero malfunctions.

Our little clubhouse. We had a little frost last night and was pretty damp this morning.
The range is pretty primitive, but yearly membership is stupid cheap, especially if you volunteer to do a little work on the place.

Stopped on the way home to cast a vote for a friend that's running for mayor of our quiet little town and a couple other items.

Get out and vote guys!

That's mighty American, Jason. Only thing "more American" might be shooting a Committee of Safety musket! 8)

The Berry's hollow based RN bullets are what I loaded up for my dad last year. He found them to be very accurate in his NM and Springfield Range Officer and asked me to make some more. At the time, all I could find were the 185 truncated flat points and wanted to be sure the functioned in the NM.
That was the whole reason for the range trip. Shooting 1911s on election day was just a happy coincidence. Not exactly an excuse. :D
