They're wearing pearls?

Post by Bill in Oregon »

I don't pay a lot of attention to Major League Baseball, so imagine my surprise when I watched Game 1 of the World Series and here are a bunch of grown men wearing pearl necklaces. What the heck is up with that? What is next, lipstick?
I know these clowns are well-paid, which possibly explains the pounds of gold jewelry around their necks, but pearls? June Cleaver pearls?

Do you think it might be a statement about their LBGTQ preference?😂

I gave up on professional baseball years ago. It’s a performance for the attention deficit crowd. I only go to local vintage baseball games now.

Part of the Bling Challenge seems to be who can be the most expensive and outrageous. If you're not "different" you won't be noticed.

You bet...... and throw in some vintage (real) country music too ! I can think of a few more "vintage" things, but that would be going off topic.

During the past election, women wearing pearls with a T-shirt was a show of support for Kalamidia Harris.
Maybe these guys are the anti-"Lets Go Brandon" crowd.

It might not be what you gents are thinking. These guys play by the Civil War era rules. There are a few teams around here.

I can't help but chuckle wondering what the players of old would think if they saw a player on the field in pearls?

I gave up on all professional sports as soon as they started taking a knee. Bunch of spoiled arrogant brats playing freaking games and being paid millions to do so. I'd expect they would get on their knees before every game to thank all of their fans and praise the country that made it possible...

EXACTLY....!

I might attend a local Little League game, where I might know or respect the players and their families, but that's about all.

I there a professional sport other than baseball?

I haven't followed any of them since I was in high school. I used to like to go to the minor league baseball games, but with the opening of the new stadium they are all about loud music, fireworks, and other such rot. The days when you could go and chat softly with your friends between pitches are gone. Besides the vintage games, which are always an hour or more drive from here, I've heard there's a Sunday league which plays in the local parks. Maybe I should watch one.

Baseball has changed quite a bit since I was a kid!
I think there might be 3 or 4 Americans in the American league!
Ironic isn't it! The hell with those spoiled anti Americans millionaires!
