the pick looks good. and I like the truck bed finish. I have done that to something around here. but I still don't understand the huge lever. is it a John Wayne wannabe thing?

P.S. it's a 1:30 twist rate, and someone on a forum said this applies to all the rossi 44s. deal killer.

My local gun shop had a older Rossi 92 in 44-40 yesterday. $490.00
It was pre safety. A few older JM Marlins and one Winchester 9422.
I'll bet every one of the lever action are gone.
I did find some 150 gr. 308 Federal that I jumped on.
Factory made ammo is still hard to find!

Well, it's not as hideous as what I expected when I clicked the link, that's something. I'd be curious to try one with the dot sight.

Looks like mostly what they did from a cosmetics standpoint was replace the scout rail with a longer picatinny style rail, put a big lever on it, and paint the stock black. None of that makes it look 'classic', but it doesn't really make it look silly either.

They're not going to compete in the 'classic' arena anyway, as long as used Winchesters are around, so what would the point be in just making another 'me-too' 92...?

Seems practical to me, although I'd downsize the loop a bit, and I'd just have replaced the moisture-attracting forend with an aluminum one easily cleaned under and with M-lok slots instead of rails sticking out where you may not want them.

The cerakote finish and threaded muzzle alone make it worthwhile.

BUT......what REALLY got my attention was the article said

I hope tyhey improved the rotating lock safety. mine would sometimes spin enough to lock it self, that's how loose it was. nate sells a safety plug to fill that hole.

.

Yeah those safeties stink; I wouldn't depend on them to stay in 'safe' mode OR 'fire' mode. Silly to even have a safety on an exposed hammer firearm anyway, but at least the Marlin ones WORK.
