Spent the afternoon catching up on my reloading. I had about 200 rounds of 480 Achilles that needed to be loaded. It was a quiet and peaceful afternoon.
The Huffaker 290 gr. copy of the old .476 Ely bullet. I loaded these over 6.0 gr. Bullseye for around 830 fps.
The Bittner 290 gr. bulllet .. the original bullet when we designed the cartridge. I loaded these over 6.0 gr. unique for around 750 fps.
The last of my powder coating experiment. These are also loaded over 6.0 gr. Unique.
This as most of you know, is not a high pressure high velocity round. It's a big thumper. Works fine on all the critters I have shot with it.

Re: Loading Ammo
Jim,
Where did you have those mesquite grips with the worm holes made? I really need a set for my SAA.
Guys,
This .480 Achilles is just too much fun to shoot!

Re: Loading Ammo
Thanks Jim.
I wish I could join you in Arkansas, but I have a mediation on a pretty high profile civil rights case on the 20th and an all day client seminar on the 21st.
Otherwise, I would be there shooting up your .480 ammo!
