Old school belly gun...

Post by AmBraCol »

There's been a lot of posts lately about black powder resolvers, interest in them has bloomed again for whatever reason. This year I received an 1860 Colt clone which was a lovely project to get acquainted with while up north. I've had a ROA for quite a while now, but the slim, trim open top Colts have quite an allure. The Kirst Converter is something with which I was not familiar until I saw JT posting on another forum about them. That got me to digging. There's no way I'd mess with the 1860 I received as it's now running beautifully and gives a great connection with the past as is and the provenance places it in the "protected" tier in the cache.

However, while looking for info on the Kirst units, I stumbled upon this video - and it reminded me of this dandy little "belly gun" which I'd never really considered before although I'd seen it while researching other things.

That looks like a nice, compact little popper, With a dose of appropriate smokeless behind a 250 gr flat nose of some persuasion it should be a dandy little packing pistol. A lot of folks don't care for the birdshead grip frame, I think it's just about right for this particular little popper.

Yep. By the time you buy the base gun and the Konverter you could buy a really nice something else. :D I still like the look of it for some weird reason.
